Hi! I'm a very new hubber (started over a week ago). I'd like to seek comments for my hubs. I'm kind of used to writing technical articles, so this style is fairly new to me. Also, except for one or two of my hubs, I think some of my hubs are kind of "boring". I don't know, I may be overly critical of my writing. Can somebody help me? Please? Will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Hi Emie
Welcome to Hubpages!
Don't be hard on yourself. Just write, I don't think people here read to criticise. As for comments - a little Tip I would give is: Once in a while, click on Hubtivity on the Top of your page. This shows what's happening live on the pages. So as Hubs are being published, you will see it. You can click on a few, read them and make comments. When they read the comments you have made, in most cases, its natural for hubbers to check out your profile out of curiosity and read a few of your hubs and also leave comments which could even help you when writing further Hubs. Alternatively, click on Hubbers and check out Hubs that way.
I'm not a writer. I don't even have a specific area. I just write on whatever I feel the need to. Anyway, try that tip and I'm sure by the end of the week, you'll have comments on your hubs and meet some interesting people too. Enjoy
As a fairly new hubber myself I'm certain I don't know all the tips and tricks yet but here are a few things I've picked up:
Use more than one text capsule. This is because you will get another adsense advert in between them.
Go to google images and download a few relevant photos to add to your hub. Images just seem to add a bit of interest.
When choosing the category for your hub just use the broadest one, don't go into sub-categories. More people will see it then.
If you're writing on here to make money then do some keyword research. I use the google keyword generator tool.
Also, sign up for adsense, ebay and amazon affliate programs if you haven't already and add those capsules to your hubs.
Good luck!
And make sure that you have the rights to use the image or it is copyright infringmenet which can lead to Adsense account suspension!
I'm pretty new to this myself. I quickly discovered the articles don't all need to be technical in nature.
One great place to pick up article ideas is to check out questions other hubbers have left that they would like answers to. Answer the question in the form of a hub. Many of these will get you responses in the form of comments.
Responses come in time and at random. There is no formula that will get you responses. Write about things that inspire you, things you've been working on, experiences you've had that you feel might help others out of a similar bind. I've written a few health related hubs based on a few experiences I've had in recent years.
A particular recipes I wrote and to which I added humor (I framed it as a "manly secret" prompted surprising responses.
Joining in the discussions in various parts of the community help as well.
Good luck and welcome.
I think you are off to a great start Emievil I didn't find a whole lot of anything wrong. Welcome to HubPages.
Thanks for the replies (and the votes of confidence)! I appreciate the tips and will surely try them out. May be I'll just sit back and relax and enjoy myself while I'm writing. The Google Adsense and the other affiliates will just be a welcome bonus! Thanks everyone!

Are you more likely to leave comments on hubs that receive responses from the hub owner?I always respond to comments I receive on my hubs. Do you think people are more likely to leave comments when they see responses from the hub owner to previous comments? Have you ever decided not to comment...

I am talking about best and worst scenarios. I have been through many posts on the forum and other places. From what I understand, you can hope to make (in the best case) about $1 per month per hub. So is that true for many of you? For instance, if I go berserk and post 1000 hubs (don't even ask me...

Is it rude to point out grammar/spelling mistakes on hubs via comments?I've come across numerous hubs that have grammar and spelling errors, some minor and some littered with mistakes. Otherwise, these hubs would be interesting and will written in my opinion. Is it rude to point out these mistakes...

I have only been a member of HubPages for 5 weeks, and already I have made close to $1,000. I know that this is not exceptional for some Hubbers, except I only have 13 hubs, I am not an internet marketing guru, and my hubs are not that exceptional or keyword optimized. In fact, the only...

What are the potentially cons of not using a comment box?I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over again. I'm tired of getting rude comments. I'm tired of dealing with it basically. I want to help people, but answering the same question over and over again or having to defend myself...
