RESOLVED: Photo galleries: Some transitioned, some didn't

Another post from someone (me) who had her lenses transitioned today.

I have found that some of my photo galleries have transferred properly, but others are missing entirely. Or rather, the title of the gallery has become a text capsule, but all of the photos and their captions are missing. This is not a consistent problem but one that is only affecting certain lenses-turned-hubs.

Can you post a few example Hub URLs here and we'll take a look?

        http://sockii.hubpages.com/hub/portrait … odiatrist-

(Page about my partner...I had a photo gallery of his paintings which is missing, would have been where it just shows "A Gallery of David's Artwork - Old Master Reproductions and Classically-Inspired Originals by David D. Carrozzino')

        http://sockii.hubpages.com/hub/what-is-gelato
(Photos missing from what was a module for "Making Blueberry Gelato - Step-by-Step Photos")

I know there is other work to be done on both, but I was surprised to find the photo gallery images missing on those when I went in to  start updating them.

Thanks for looking into the issue.

Thanks! This looks like it might be a bug. We are investigating and I hope to have an update soon.

Good to know as it seems a pretty serious one. As I've looked through my 200+ lenses that imported, it seems like somewhere around 75-80% of them lost all photo gallery images. Thankfully I have backup copies to replace them but it is a lot of work to do...

Yes I too am filled with a lot of angst. I loved Squidoo, not so fond of Hubpages. Frankly, they should have taken the Hubpages members and moved them to Squidoo. I am still waiting on the nightmare that is going to be the arrival of my 40 or so lenses.

I in general actually prefer the clean, content-focused look and focus of HubPages, so I don't want to be lumped in with being a "hater" or something.

But the photo gallery issue has caused me a lot of angst and stress, no question. I used those a lot on my travel and recipe lenses and many of them are pretty well trashed until I can fix them manually now.

Pointing out these issues helps more than just one person. If it is happening to you, it is happening to others too.

That would not have been practical. Just give yourself time to get used to the system.

One of my newly imported lenses/hubs is missing two photo galleries entirely.  I unfortunately tried editing that hub before noticing the photos were missing.

Update: we have a fix for this in the works and plan to re-import all affected Hubs that have not been edited. Please don't edit your Hubs if you want them to be imported again.  We plan to do a re-import (note: only for Hubs affected by *this* bug specifically) later this week. I'll update this thread when the re-import is done.

    Thanks for your continued patience!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that if you prefer to add photos back manually and be excluded from the re-import, you are free to do that! smile

I am going to systematically edit my hubs. I am finding that some of my older pictures really need to be updated so I don't mind putting the gallery pictures back in. Some of them also imported skewed/distorted, so I'm fixing those too. I appreciate all the work HubPages is doing to make this as easy as possible.

Thanks for the update! So basically if it's a lens/hub affected, and our accounts have been transferred, this will be fixed on lenses this have not been edited otherwise yet, correct? But ones we've already edited will be left alone?

(Because of all the time I've put into those now I don't want to lose THAT work! But I appreciate possibly saving effort on others I haven't gotten to yet.)

The fix will see the missing galleries on the already imported hubs?

That will be very beneficial for me as well.

To clarify, already imported Hubs *that have not been edited* will be re-imported if they were affected by this bug.

            Thanks, Marina.

I will leave those alone for now. Might as well have the system fix them.

Good news, everyone! Hubs that were affected by this bug (and also that haven't been edited) have been re-imported. I encourage you all to check your Hubs and if you see any new problems, please let us know. If you find new bugs unrelated to missing videos and photo galleries, please open a new thread to report it. Thanks!

Fabulous news! Thanks so much for getting this resolved so quickly.

This is going to make it SO much faster and easier to keep working on updating my transferred lenshubs! smile
