I am writing a serial fiction Hub, and I am worried about triggering the duplicate content alarm. What I would like to do, is start each installment with the last couple of sentences from the previous Hub. Is this safe?
Repeating a few sentences might cause an issue with the duplicate content filter if you have short chapters. It shouldn't be a problem if each chapter you post is a couple thousand words or so, but it really isn't necessary. You could just publish one chapter per hub and put a table of contents on the first chapter, link to it with an original blurb at the top of each hub, and link to the next chapter at the bottom of each hub. This has worked well for me on the first eighteen chapters of my serialized sci-fi novel on HubPages.
The problem I have had with starting with a few sentences from the end of the previous chapter (on a different site) was that people often started reading at whatever chapter they landed on and then had no idea what they were reading.
Thanks, Jodah. I wanted to be sure before I did it. You know what they say... if in doubt, find out

I don't know how folks with over 1K hubs keep track!I have just over 300, and I'm finding that as I go to publish a new article, lo and behold, I find I've written virtually the same article before!!!This has happened in recent days with a few of my poems I did not realize I had already put up on...

I would like advice on the following. I uploaded a new hub 'Lost In The Ocean,' which I have now deleted. It stated duplicate content. I spend a lot of time on this hub, rewriting it. However, it was refused for publishing due to duplicate content. The only duplicate content in this hub, was the...

I was just checking my stats when I noticed that a hub I published on 1-7-07 has been flagged and incurring a HP penalty for duplicate content. It's my highest earning hub and HP giving me a penalty-and then asking me to wait 72 hours for a review on something I published a year ago is...

Looking for some fresh inspiration, I dug into my archives this past week and found a copy of an old piece I'd written for an e-zine many, many years ago. It was kinda short and kinda lame, but I thought I could bring it back to life and make it work as a Hub, though it would need quite a bit of...
