niche sites and Amazon ads

   Does anyone have luck with their Hubs being accepted to a niche site without their Amazon ad getting eliminated? I wrote a Hub in which I detailed my personal experience with a certain product and included an ad for it. It was not forced at all -- very organic --  but got eliminated during the editing process. I would love to see an example of a Hub on a niche site that has an Amazon ad. Thanks!

      I've had better luck when I use the text links than the Amazon capsules. They seem more apt to let those stay. I've actually had a few sales with them lately too.

            First go to Amazon and choose the item you want. Copy the URL of that item.
            
            In the hubtool, edit the text block you want, select the text that you want linked, then click on the little chain icon at the top of the box. It will be highlighted when you have text selected, it's on the top right.
            
            Paste the URL of the Amazon product you want. Click the box that says "affiliate links." then save.
            
            When you go back to your hub, the text will look different, with a small A preceding it.

               Sorry Sherry, but you're not quite right.  Do it like that, and your affiliate code won't appear, and you won't earn any commission on sales.
               
               The first part is right but the second part is wrong.  Here's the right version:
               
               In the hubtool, edit the text block you want, select the text that you want linked, then click on the little chain icon at the top of the box. It will be highlighted when you have text selected, it's on the top right.
               
               Look at the lower part of the box that opens.  You'll see an "Amazon" tab.  It will have some suggested products, but you can also paste a keyword or Amazon product code into the Search box above.  Select the product you want and save.

                  According to HP's recent blog post all existing and new Amazon links are converted to revenue sharing format, even if the author does it the used-to-be-wrong way without the affiliate tracker. http://blog.hubpages.com/2016/10/24/upd … zon-links/  So, Sherry's method will work anyway.

         I have had more sales from Amazon capsules, especially over the past two months. I find them to be more honest and open than text links.

               I think much depends on the way the product is introduced and whether or not it is an integral part of the hub.

   I've had a few moved with ads.  I've got one on castanets and one on contact lenses, both with Amazon ads. 
   
   Sometimes an over-zealous editor does snip unnecessarily and several people have added an Amazon ad back in after the Hub has been moved, and there have been no repercussions.   I'd be anxious about inserting more than one, though. 
   
   One thing I've found helps is to make sure you have some words in the "description" section of the Amazon capsule itself.  Also you need to use words which give the clear impression that you've got personal experience - i.e. I recommend this product, or this is my favourite, etc.  You may have done that earlier in the Hub, but perhaps not close enough to the capsule.
   
   Another alternative which would be safer - add an in-text link instead of reinstating the capsule. Make sure you know how to do that correctly so you get your affiliate link.

      Hey, Marisa, I just read your article on castanets and definitely see why your Amazon ad wasn't snipped. My hub is "10 Ways to Build Intimacy in Your Romantic Relationship that Don't Involve Sex." One of the 10 was to give massages, and I had an ad for massage oil. Underneath it I had written 4-5 sentences about why I liked this particular oil. I used a full-width ad so, perhaps, it was too large. Perhaps, they accept an ad only when the entire Hub is about that item. It just seems really difficult to have a Hub accepted with an ad or maybe I'm just having rotten luck.

         Ah, OK now I see why.
         
         The rule is that all links and products in your Hub must be directly related to the TITLE.   It's not enough to be related to one paragraph or one section.
         
         So a Hub doesn't have to be about one product, it can be about a general area and then you have a product that's related to it (like my contact lens inserter in my contact lens Hub) but there needs to be some connection to the title.

   My sales hubs were moved with ads intact; that is ads that got sales, remained intact. Early editing, before the niche sites, had editors asking me to remove poor performing ads, and I agreed. Some have moved with 3-4 ads still intact; those ads were all getting sales.
   
   In your hub, it sounds like you are reviewing a single product, and so it seems like a sales only hub for that particular product. I would suggest finding 4 products to recommend.  Add the cheapest, the best at any price, the best for this or that etc... Find reasons why someone might need one product over another in different circumstances and give them the best solution for each problem. You only need one ad - Amazon will provide the other solutions for them.
   
   Best of luck - Amazon capsules rightly applied will double your income.

      E-bay ads have been discontinued, but you can still use Amazon ads.

      Well, the proof is in the pudding and I know they don't generate as many sales, not as yet anyway.  I do miss the stats which e-bay provided us for showing which hub generated sales.  That is something I would like to see replicated here with Amazon stats.

         I haven't looked into it but I'd expect that to be the case.   I think HubPages prefers the text links because they look less "spammy" (their favourite word!), but I would expect them to be much less successful in making sales.
         
         I find Sherry is right, the editors seem much less likely to snip text links than capsules, and I've had editors convert my capsules to text links, too.

            Very strange, perhaps we need proper comparison stats to prove their success or failure.  After all the whole point of having them is so that we generate income for HubPages and ourselves.
