I just received a email about Ads that violate their agreement. One is for alcohol, I recently added a port wine ad, showing the bottle of wine, through Amazon, on my hub 'The Best Port Wine and History of Wine Portugal. Is this an violation?
Advertising alcohol is not against ToS for Adsense ads shown in countries that permit the sale of alcohol
https://support.google.com/adwordspolic … 2382?hl=en
According to that support page: "Google restricts the promotion of alcoholic beverages and drinks that resemble alcoholic beverages."
Out all depends on the specific country, as you said. So it's best to avoid the ads for wine since hubs are read worldwide.
It restrict their content (they can't encourage excessive drinking) but does not ban them. And as the ads that are shown are selected by Adsense, not us, there is not much to be done about it.
They were not selected by AdSense. Anita said those ads were from Amazon. I assume she used an Amazon ad capsule. Anita, is that what you meant?
I can't imagine that Google would penalize someone for AdSense ads that they serve themselves. That just doesn't make sense.
Yes Glenn, I have two Amazon ad capsules that advertise a bottle of port wine. And then I also added an image of port wine from pixabay. I was hoping I would get some sales from Amazon with those ads. I don't think port wine will encourage drinking, because I presume it is more for special occasions.
But you don't want to take the chance of losing your AdSense account. You can't ever get it back. This is a direct quote from Google: "Google restricts the promotion of alcoholic beverages and drinks that resemble alcoholic beverages."
Some countries (as listed on Google's support page I gave you) are allowed to run alcoholic-related ads, but HubPages is not limited to those countries.
Thanks Glen, I better remove them. There goes my chance of making some commission from Amazon.
There are so many other ways to make a commission from Amazon that are not restricted by Google. Just think about items you've bought from Amazon. That should give you ideas, and those are the best things to write about since you are a user who can give personal information on the products. I've done that with several review hubs. It works well when you write from personal experience.
I suggest that you read the whole page, not just the first sentence. The ads were compliant.
I violated their agreement too a while ago because I had Matched Betting content on my site which although is risk free, it's still classed as gambling.
Hi Dave, Did they remove your content, or ask you directly to remove it. The email that I received just gave the rules for ads, did not demand that I remove them.

If we turn off HubPages Ads and replace them with one Amazon Ad would our ability to earn decent money be compromised? Would we still earn from Adsense? Could someone please explain the different scenario's to me so that I can better judge and understand which option is better for...

I have been using HP for over 7 years now, and I do make a few bucks from my writings. I can say that you will never get rich or even make a living off of HP, but you can make enough to, as I tell friends, "go out to dinner a couple of times a month". But my point here is that as I watch...

I've never generated a cent from these two programs and they've also never really worked properly. Constantly my adsense claims its active then I'm not approved, then it just mucks up everything. I'm not making any money on hubs as it is but this isn't helping anything.
