Her owners, trainer, and jockey should be charged with cruelty to animals.
And we should take a look back to how Barbaro sustained his injury. Who was at fault?
Animal Planet needs to do a series on race horse training, to bring it to the attention of the public. Maybe that would make a difference.
I'm horrified...can I write to someone, Sally's Trove? I will!!! You know I will!!
I just want to add that the "losers" in horse racing are often discarded. I've met a few of these incredible creatures. It is a shame that there are not enough rescue organizations to help them all.

I wrote on my blog this morning to address this issue. Of course racehorses are not the only horses that are the product of man's desire to win at all cost. But the racing industry is about big money, not horses.

My hub, "ReRun Gives Race Horses a Second Lease on Life" tells about an organization that offers some hope to racehorses that are disabled or rendered unfit for racing due to injuries.
I learned about ReRun several years ago at a Horse Expo here in NC. It doesn't solve the problem of close breeding and starting them out so young, etc. but it does help a few.
You will never change it - too much money involved.
