I thought that eBay was going to have a program like Adsense, but some of my clicks are paying and others aren't. How do I know which ones will pay? I obviously missed something.
Here's the eBay blog post about it,
http://www.ebaypartnernetworkblog.com/e … k-pricing/
The general gist of the quality click pricing is that you refer traffic that will interact with ebay, meaning they either create an active account, buy something, search through the site for something, that kind of thing, the more positive transactions the better your clicks will reflect with pricing your clicks!!
yeah, ive been getting .42 cents a click, a far cry from the 2-20/per sale i was used too
Yeah me too....I hate it when they change stuff around with affiliate programs and other advertisers, sort of ruins things somewhat, although we'll see how it pans out, it just means you've got to send more traffic to ebay through your sites, which is fine, but will it work on many levels? not sure yet!
but i have only a certain level of traffic (although it grows) and almost unlimited affilaite opportunities, my draw to epn was to be able to easily build stores since there are so many great plugins/scripts - but now those stores arent making even as much as adsense (yuk) would make in its place, but replacing everything would be quite a chore, i hope the system is still adding love to its measure of my traffic quality.
i still get orange lines everyday damnit!
I am frustrated because my click numbers are going up but the per click amount is going down.
Guess this means changing my strategy again. *sigh*
You're not alone, there are others who will have to re-think and adapt to these most annoying changes, but I see this as a challenge to try and drive more qualified traffic if possible to ebay through product pages here and from other places with banner ads and textlinks!
I know. Isn't that the way with all business? Just when you get one strategy down, everything changes, and you have to start all over again. I think I will continue to do what I was intending to and see what happens for a while before I give up on the strategy I had planned.
I'm in the exact same boat as you and it's VERY frustrating. I think I will probably just replace my eBay capsules with Amazon. I do pretty well with Amazon but I don't think I have enough traffic to make ebay worthwhile at this point.
when the message was sent to me about this new policy a month ago I thought. "oh great!,I'm not going to make as much money as before"
What's the sense in affiliate programs if the companies continue to cut back on their affiliates earnings. We are driving customers to their business, after all.
It is annoying when things change. As an affiliate you can spend hours/days/weeks .. and money ... getting yourself set up to promote something. All the fiddling, integration, FTPing, etc etc.... then they change something.
I moved mostly from direct affiliate products I chose to adsense because I knew I could drop in the code and forget it. Even ad networks can be a pain in the butt because they give you short/suddden notice to pull a campaign. This held me up for a long time, but now I run an adserver, so I can now just click to load that, one click on the advertiser and it's immediately turned off. Great.
I spent about 150 hours setting up and populating the ad server - and still could only control (and be bothered to) about 90% of my content.
Even today I've had an email saying some system is changing with immediate effect, which will be another hour reading up, finding out who's done what, finding it on all my sites and making a decision to either remove it and replace it with the adserver if it's not, or just remove it because it's easier.
There's an annoying email I get every couple of weeks from one ad network that tells me I am sending clicks to a dead merchant, but I can't for the life of me track it down.... I think I spent 3 hours one afternoon just trying to find where I put that link.
ePN is, overall, OK.... but then I never invested too much time in it, it's just a handy thing I play around with, more than anything else. The few extra bob comes in handy, but I would never have been able to live on the income.
Everything changes one day - and you can bet your bottom dollar you will lose financially from it. That is why I try new things every week and try to spread my efforts thinly so no one system can knock my income away from under me.
I am now committing to hubpages and doing about 90 hours/week on it at the moment, I can probably keep up this level of commitment for just a few more months before doing less... but it's always a risk that you take of time/effort -v- payback. I am in everything for the long-term, unfortunately it's the big companies that aren't.
The entire thing is very, very, very confusing. As far as I can tell, no one really understands how it really works. I'm making .14 per click and getting like... 3-8 clicks a day which is.... ehhhhhhhh. Eh.
What is even more confusing is what they consider "quality clicks." As far as I can tell, the past week I've sold three or four items directly related/item clicked on from just one hub but none of them are being listed as quality clicks. As long as it stays at .14 I guess I'm fine with it, but the entire thing is basically voodoo.

Here's something for you guys to consider, and I am simply reiterating a comment I made on another post. You need organic traffic to your Hubs! Why? If you are using adsense, or any other monetization method on Hubpages, you will not, I repeat, you will NOT get credit for clicks on your ads from...

Nobody else seems to have picked this up, (and accuse me of cross posting if you wish as there is another dormant thread) but the new eBay Partner Network (EPN) policy effective Monday statesPublishers may only place links and/or promotional content on sites they own. Affiliate links on third...

Is it possible to have ebay as a link these days? I'm confused, some have it some don't and I seem to recall that they no longer allow hubbers to have ebay on their site. Does someone out there know the answer?

I have noticed that upon removing Kontera from my hubs that my AdSense earnings went up. Kontera seemed pretty useless even when I was earning with it because the click were not really all that profitable. One AdSense click seems to be worth more than a Kontera click even when it's like one of the...
