   I was just thinking how interesting it is that less than a hundred years ago the US apparently had so much disposable income that they could undertake projects like turning a massive mountain into a sculpture of four presidents faces (Mt Rushmore).  How'd we go from that to nearly bankrupt?  Who the heck knows.

               I think they're trying Alcatraz again.
               
               Some of the smarter tribes in Arizona are slowly taking land back from the pale faces through the "gaming" industry. Not all foreclosures are generated by the recession.

      You're right, especially with the explosion in technology, we should be able to do way more than we could a hundred years ago.

   The decline of the middle class I believe is responsible. When they feel safe and secure they consume! It does no good to tie up wealth with just a few. Maybe holding on and paying alittle more for labor and alittle less to the top and consumtion becomes an engine that drives the whole economy.

      I couldn't agree more.  Paying more for quality products will drive the middle class and help the whole economy thrive.  I've been reading a lot of reports recently about how the US is considering increasing the tariffs and forcing American corporations to do more domestic business.  Should be interesting.

   Haha, too true.  Income tax is a relatively new thing in this country.  Most Americans don't know that.
