amazon referall rates percentage

   Hi everyone. If you have ordered items on amazon, but they are not what you were trying to sell do you still earn money? if so what percent? I think the normal is 4% but is this only on items sold that you are promoting? Thanks

      Thanks for your reply. Does anyone know if it is the same %. My amazon says 4% referal rate... so should this apply?

         The referral rate depends on how many items you sell. The more you sell - the higher the rate. Assuming you have chosen the sliding scale?

   Yes, you get money for anything that's purchased through your link (though I believe there's a time limit on the purchase). Not sure what percentage you get -- mine's gone up as I've sold more things.

   4% until 7 items are sold that you reffered then that goes up to 6%. people get items sold credit for 120 minutes after clicking on your referral item even if they choose a different item

   ....thats teh first Ive heard of a 120 minute limit...seems doubtful(where did u see this?), its a session cookie.
   
   The rates off the top of my head are 4,6,8 % sliding scale ...some digital products/.mp3s are 10% ( a dime!)
   
   Its easiest to just look at the referral report in your dashboard, there is a little link that shows a table of ref rates

   It is also worth noting that someone who clicks your link and buys a third party item through Amazon will only generate 4% of the sale price regardless of your level.

   i may be confusing the amazon product referral limit with a hubpage referral limit.. let me recheck.. that was off the top of my nugget! But yes I think its a timed session cookie. In other words if you rewfer to amazon but they look around for more than 2 hrs..( inlikely anway) then I think you no longer recive the item sold credit if its not your item that gets bought.. I'll double check though ...

   let me just add this... aren't all session cookies timed because if they never expired and stayed on the persons computer then wouldn't you get credit anytime they went back to the site for an unlimited time or until they cleaned cookies off their computer. Hence the reason you always get a list of low priority warnings when cleaning temp files in the registry from all the expired cookies. Thats why its called TEMP file because those session cookies will expire for the sake of other Amazon referers on another day... I'll go check though... be back in a bit...

   ok ....as i'm.. reading... it says the session link is terminated in three ways a.) after 24 hours from the clickthrough has passed or b.) the itenm is not a digital item ( not so sure what that means- sounds like only techy gadgets get credited @#$?) or c.)customer follows a thid party link to the amazon site that has an associate tag added. and also notes that rentering the site later and  buying  will not be part of the session unless going through one of your liks again. Sounds like the session cookie expires upon leaving the site or if the computer is not turned off it will expire in 24 hours.  Section 4, 5 , & 6 of Operating agreement if you want to read on the Amazon site. Can be located on the left side of the Associate screen homepage..its not 120 minutes like I originally posted.

   Once the cookie is set you will get credit for anything they buy in the next 24 hours unless they go to another amazon affiliate and the cookie is reset.
   
   Keep in mind also that a lot of security software will strip out affiliate cookies.
   
   Amazon knows that most people will take more than 24 hours to make an online purchasing decision.
   
   Once they get the email address of course they will mail direct over and over.
   
   Amazon has made it's fortune on the backs of affiliates willing to promote them for nothing.

    well, the concept is you attracted searchers who were in a buying mindset, than pre-sold them with you own copy, before you sent them to Amazon.
    
    Im not a fan of the amazon cookies sytem..and the new system is worse than ever before (it used to be 24 hour cookie, no limitations, except could be overwritten by another associate)
    
    But, its not impulse buys only..its about sending pre-qualified buyers to the site
    
    I have to dig through the agreement again..but, i dont think it is
    
    
    Its only good for 24 hours if your buyer placed an item in their shopping cart during the initiating session, if they arrive to amazon and perform no shopping cart based action..the session is over when they leave the site
    
    Im not sure why I think that, but Im pretty sure thats what the change was in the most recent TOS change

       Yep, exactly how I just read that to mean also after looking up in the operating agreement. If its not in the cart before the user leaves the site , then the cookie becomes invalid/expired even if they return again within the 24 hour period unless they return through another one of YOUR linksand get another qualifying cookie placed.
