   Okay, Me and 2 other residents from my hospital going to be giving a psychological lecture at NYU next Thursday.
   
   It's about Personality Disorders. Now, we thought we'd either do Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder or Schizophrenia. Which one of those sound the most interesting to college students?

      Multiple Personality Disorder sounds the most promising. You can bring up Sybil and the case this character is based on.

      Multiple  Personality Disorder may be the one that sounds the most interesting to many people, but I find Borderline Personality Disorder to be more fascinating because it isn't nearly as rare as MPD and is so often overlooked.

   New Yorker, I find this topic fascinating, when I returned to education as a mature student, I took psychology as a minor, it was really all about developemntal psychology, so I never touched on the topics I wanted, I read about a woman one time who had over 300 personalities, is that true, in my journey of life I have meet so many people and I have often wondered about one person being two people in their mind - is this possible?

      Yes, I know exactly the topic you are referring to.
      
      Dr. Bennett G. Braun created false memories and 300 alters in a woman, convincing her that she had been a high priestess in a cannibalistic demon worshiping religious cult. Dr. Judith Peterson was also a part of this and many more psychiatrists in the 1980's - 1990's. This was actually the topic of my graduation essay.

   I say this honestly New Yorker I would love to see a long and detailed hub on this, in recent years in Ireland also there has been much conraversy in relation to the use of regression techniques in cases of child abuse.....children have remembered all sorts (demons, devils crazy stuff)...I think the technique is banned in England but in Ireland we are only starting to recognise such abuse and trying to deal with it with out dated and dangerous tools.....cant wait for your hub please let me know when you have it done...

      Regression with the use of hypnosis is indeed controversial. It is controversial because it is flawed. It is quite possible to have a child or an adult remember events from the past that never happened in reality. Where did they happen? Well, sometimes dreams can blend in with what is remembered as reality and there regression does become problematical.
      
      Is the person reliving an actual event or something they wished or were afraid of would happen at the time they are remembering? People have been accused of crimes they hadn't committed due to someone else's regression therapy. Families have been broken up over issues that don't have a basis in our flesh and blood world but in remembered dreams. Also the hypnotist/psychologist, in order to discover a truth, may be asking leading questions of the person under hypnosis and that in itself can be a dangerous thing. In terms of dreams many if not all people have skeletons in their dreamscape closet and the true danger is the mistaking of this dreamscape with actual past events. My thoughts at any rate.
