I've had a blogger in the past & have tried wordpress & such; I've been on hubpages all of 15 minutes and this is what I'm trying to figure out...

    1. START A HUB: CHOOSE A TITLE - Is this the name of my blog under which all my posts will be (my blog name was 'Ruby Slippers & Broomsticks' and was just a personal random blog), or, do i create a new hub & new title for EACH story?

    2. Can I REALLY make money here and can you tell me the fast, 'dummy' version of what I need to do to start that? I've been a published newspaper, magazine & freelance writer & photographer for a decade, but newspapers are failing & there are already online news sites for our little local town, so I'm at a loss as to how to make money writing in the local realm. The fact I'm not writing anymore eats daily at me, partly because it's just who I am, and also because our household could use that little extra cash every month.

There are many dummies here who can offer more help than I can.  Here's my bit.  Writing here to get back in the groove can be a good thing.

Expecting any quick cash, even a little, will lead to dissapointment.

Do a forum search of help for new hubbers - best way to start.

      Good luck and welcome.

      Hello,

      1. Forget the concept of Blog post - Think of each hub as a freestanding mini- web site. So yes, new titles every time

      2. yes, you can build an income through hubpages , but its one that requires patience, proper expectations and an element of commercialism

Nelle's article is a great motivator and she is good Hubber to attempt to emulate

I think you might this helpful for setting your expectations and at least check out the bottom to see a list of hub authors who have some of the best info on the "make money" aspect of writing online

Welcome to Hubpages misery!  The first place to look is under help.  You can see it at the top right of the screen above the search button and next to "my profile". Start there for all those technical questions.

As for earning money, yes you can earn.  But it's a slow way to earn but the better your hubs the more you can earn money over time.

    Good Luck!

Misery, if you want to pay attention to any hubber about making money, pay attention to Nelle Hoxie.

Nelle, I'm not saying it to score points because I hate that, I just happen to think it's true.

Misery, Sunforged is correct about forgetting the thought that this is like a blog. Hub Pages is like one giant website where you create individual pages. That said it is similar to a blog in the fact that you want to stay current and keep your pages fresh. Adding new photos, videos, and news feeds will help keep it fresh and new. Comments also help so be active and promote your pages outside of Hub Pages with a blog or bookmarking sites that will get readers to come and comment.

Hubpages is not like bloger, each time you create a post it is like a new webpage, not the continuous diary that is blogger!
