    Hi

I am looking through hubs and my hub descriptions are a mash up! I typed in the description, but it seems to have ignored it.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks...

Are you talking about the "summary text" for the Hub? I guess it is working fine. Or is it that I have not understood you properly? Could you please elaborate it ?

I think I know what you might be talking about.  I have been experiencing the same problems lately.  Usually I don't write directly in the capsule, but I type on my computer and then copy & paste my final version with all the spaces I want in my writeup.  But when I save it it mashes all the text up and I have to go back and space everything manually.  Might be a technical issue I don't know.  Hope someone else explain this.

I too write the content in MS Word first and then copy to the capsule. To overcome the problem, I select the total content in the capsule and then select "Paragraph" from the drop-down above. It works to a great extent if not completely

Hi Multimastery has it right, that's what's happening.

When you serach for topics and have a look at all hubs in that category, the description for mine are weird and all 'mashed up'.

I type my own description into the summary text, as I thought that's what would show up as the description for SE and Hubpages...

    Thanks

When you search for something on HubPages (and on google), the summary that is displayed is the part of your hub that matches the search term.  When you see a hub on a tag page, or pretty much anywhere else on the site, the description will be the one you've set in the summary.  For instance, see here.

    That's weird!!

It wasn't like that when I last saw it, it was totally different!!

And - the summary text within the hub that I edited, was not in the descriptions like it was in the link you provided, however, today it is the correct summary description for one, and incorrect for another: it has taken the first part of the first paragraph of that hub...

    I don't know!

    Thankyou...........

    Under Report A Problem or....

I just saw another post about this and this was the answer in the forums..

    Hi Julie-Ann,

In the example you gave, you are using the results from a SEARCH.

The new search at HubPages (see here) uses article text instead of the summary and presents excerpts with highlights of the keywords.

To see the SUMMARY of the article, you need to click on a tag directly.  If you go through the tags or through links on the topic page, you will see that the Summary gets used.

For example, here is the view from clicking on the "Advice" tag (see here) will give you a listing that uses the summary. FROM LARRYFREEMAN

I think I understand what is happening now thanks to Larry. Thankyou!
