Hi,
Hi,
On of my hubs has a symbol next to it (in the MY ACOUNTS SCTION); a pencil drawn inside a green octagonal shape symbol. Hovering my mouse over the green symbol yields no information as to what it is. When I click it on, it take's me to my original hub although now heavily edited by an unknown administrator. The photos have all been replaced with more professional looking ones (HEY, I did my best with the shitty 5mb compact that I used when writing the article originally and had planned to update them with professional quality photos myself. The traffic is still coming in and nobody has complained about the photos.
The body of the text also appears to have been edited heavily. I might not be a grammar expert but I am reasonably adept. My very minor grammatical errors have been removed by a grammar pedant and replaced with words they feel are more are appropriate.
I just don't understand why somebody would take the time to change all of the photographs and reword a successful article containing great feedback in the comments sections. I'm not griping. I'm just wondering that the purpose of this is. As long as the traffic keeps coming (it appears to be down by 50% right now) and I continue to make a few cents in money then i'll look at this free tuition to help me improve the quality of my work.
But why? I don't really follow HP announcements and forums very much so please accept my apologies if I missed something. Many thanks.
You've been subjected to HubPro: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/128409
You have the option of reverting your hub back to its original look, and you also can opt out of Hub Pro on your profile page if you do not want to be part of this program. However, I would suggest waiting to see if views increase as a result of the team's efforts. That, after all, is their goal with this program.
HubPro edits hubs that have had high traffic in hopes of improving that / and increase time readers spend on the hubs. I would ride it out and see what happens. - Best wishes!
I was under the impression that an editor is supposed to contact you and work with you on any changes they make to your articles. Were you notified on the email that is connected to your HubPages account?
Hi Doc! I'm sorry, you didn't receive our email correspondence. If you email me at robin.edmondson@hubpages.com, I will forward the emails along to you! Your Hub was indeed edited by HubPro. Here's our blog post that explains what HubPro is and its purpose. Starting last Thursday, there was a site-wide traffic drop that affected all accounts including HubPro edited Hubs, so I wouldn't extrapolate that the edits caused the traffic decline. I'm glad you liked the photos and edits, and again, I apologize that you didn't receive our numerous emails, but I'm happy to forward them to you.
I'm glad you are not too unhappy about this - I think I'd be upset of someone just took over one of my hubs without a by your leave. If someone make some suggestions to me and explained why - that might sway me, but just going in a changing every part of it seems plain rude. And - I think some article's naivety is what makes them better, we don't always want to see a slick, corporate number, sometimes it feels more genuine to read something a little rawer. That's my tuppence worth!
Thanks to everyone who replied.
I checked my email inbox and Hubpages DID send me an email to explain. Apologies for jumping straight into the forum before checking my email.
If Hubpro maintains/increases traffic in the long term then I have absolutely no problem with it. Anything that improves the look and content of the site has to be a good thing.

This doesn't make sense. My article "Gardening for Beginners: 10 Easy Steps to Sowing Seeds which currently ranks in fourth place (despite all the deranking) for "How to Sow Seeds" has had its title changed to "How to Sow Seeds( Plus A Definition)". I'll change it back when...

So, yesterday, I got an email saying one of my articles had been edited: a recipe that's been posted since 2017. I'm not sure it really needed editing, since most of what was done was superficial. I checked it over, hated about half of the changes, and edited the article to correct some of the...

I have a hub that was moved here from Squidoo in September that I haven't touched at all. But, now it's unfeatured due to lack of engagement. I thought I had four months before stuff like that happened.

I have 37 articles on PetHpful that are undergoing editing....AGAIN. This happens a lot. I'm expected to go into each article, read it, fix the mistakes the editors put into my articles, and repost the articles. I have other writing projects (book, book trailer) pending for my agent, and I don't...

I haven't been very active on hubpages but occasionally I log in to check how my articles are doing. Today I was gobsmacked to see that three of my star articles have been edited and the traffic for these hubs has plummeted and for the first time in 13 months I didn't make the payment cut for this...
