eBay Affiliate requires reactivation under HP subdomain

I received an email from eBay affiliate stating "You will not be paid for traffic from domains that have not been registered."

I wonder if this means we need to reconfirm now that we have our hubs under our own subdomains.

When I go to the page "Activate hubpages.com as an eBay Partner Network Domain" under my Earnings tab where I enter my eBay Activation Code, it says it placed the code in...

    http://hubpages.com/epndomain.txt

The problem is that eBay changed that file. It now should be placed in a file called...

    ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt

...and I believe that file should be created in the root of our subdirectory that we all have now, rather than under the root of hubpages.com as in the past. But this needs to be confirmed.

Can you confirm if I am right about this and if so, make the proper changes so Hubbers can validate their eBay Affiliate under their subdomains.

In any case the correction for the new file name needs to be done so new Hubbers can validate HP for their eBay affiliate account.

See eBay's page How do I validate a domain? for their updated info.

Marye, That's good. I don't have any eBay capsules at this time so I wouldn't know. But I got that email from eBay saying that we need to confirm other domains. Did you get that too?

I am not sure yet if our subdomain is considered another domain, in which case they may deny payments if not confirmed. So I was trying to include my new subdomain URL and discovered that HP never updated their code to interface with the new eBay requirements.

I'm also trying to keep my Hub on the eBay Partner Network up to date.

Thanks for your feedback. If you notice any changes, please post it here. Thanks again.

Unfortunately I had deleted mine but Hestia DeVoto got it too ( as stated in this thread).  We have to watch closely after Sept 1st.

There's a notice on the main eBay affiliate page:

Hi everyone! In preparation for the launch of ePN Mobile on September 8, please register your domains. You are required to do this in order to get paid on any traffic you drive on a mobile device. You can find the “Domains” page under the “Account” tab.

I don't take this to mean I have to register my subdomain though - I already have 'hubpages.com' domain registered.

Thanks, Simey, for posting that. It's the same text that I got in that email from eBay.

I already have 'hubpages.com' domain registered too since way way back. After Sept 8th we'll all know if it continues to be recognized as a verified domain.

The other problem I mentioned at the start of this thread is a definite issue for anyone new who wants to verify hubpages now. Since eBay changed the file name  that HP is creating to specify our verification code, HP needs to make that change so eBay will find it. And they still need to find out if that file should go in the root of hubpages or in the new user's  subdomain.  That was my original concern.

I am still earning from my EPN account, without activating my subdomain separately.

Thanks Maddie. That's good to know. Twice confirmed!  smile

So the only problem that remains will be for new people who try to activate since HP is still placing the eBay Activation Code in a file by the old name. eBay changed that.

I understood eBay's new notice to say that we would have to register subdomains in September.

Hestia, That would mean that Marye Audet and Maddie Ruud would stop getting payments after Sept 1st unless they reconfirm their subdomains with eBay. Please report back here when the two of you check your eBay reports next month. I guess we'll have to wait till then to be sure.

Glen, here's a chunk from the email I got from eBay.  Bolding is as it was in the original, italics are my emphasis.

Since we really have subdomains now instead of a top-level domain, it could mean we have to register them or it might not.  I think I'm going to try and get an answer from eBay instead of just waiting for them to not pay me and then fix it.

Hestia, The section you cut and pasted from eBay's email did not appear here for some reason.  Anyway, it's hard to get a response from eBay but I hope you do. Let us know here what you find out. In the meantime we all have to monitor our eBay revenue reports going into September.
