Buy Hot Wheels Diecast Batman Cars and Batmobiles Series 2

Updated on March 16, 2011

The Batmobile range was a limited collectable range produced by Hot Wheels with new releases each year including a staggering 8 new ones in 2010. The range covers vehicles from various eras of Batman from the 1940s right up to the present day movies and is probably the most comprehensive and collectable range of Batman vehicles ever produced.

There is a huge number of cars to collect and most are in the 1:50 scale and are beautifully detailed, down to the high-tech bat-gadgetry that you would expect. These cars are great for kids and who doesn't remember lying on the floor playing with Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars and recreating scenes from the TV show or the Movies. However these are also great for collectors and Batman fans and look great when displayed.

Ebay is a great source for Hot Wheels Batman Diecast Vehicles and Batmobiles both new and used especially all the discontinued and rare cars and they can be at extremely reasonable prices, Ebay also gives you a huge variety to choose from as well as allowing you to still find items that are no longer available.

This hub concentrates on the 2nd Series of Batmobiles that were released by Hot Wheels, if you are interested in Series 3 then please see my Hot Wheels Batmobile hub, if you are interested in the different Batmobiles released by Corgi including the rather more eclectic vehicles in the range such as the Catmobile then please see my Corgi Batman Diecast Vehicles Hub or my Corgi Batman Diecast Vehicles Part 2 Hub

If you are interested in other Batman memorabilia and sets please also look at my Lego Batman Hub.

BatBoat

This model from Hot Wheels features the BatBoat from the 1966 TV Series. The model of the BatBoat is a comes in a bright blue colour scheme and comes with its own BatTrailer.

The Batboat was made from a regular Glastron V-174. It was modfied by adding a red flashing beacon, glowing eyes, bazooka hatches, seats for both Batman and Robin at the front of the boat, twin wind screens, a center console, an outdrive jet cover, and an aft to deck cover with a glowing Bat-Signal on the tail fin. Although the boat was powered by a Standard V6 engine a water squirter and a jet nozzle were added to make the Batboat look like it was nuclear-powered.

Batwing

This model from Hot Wheels features the Batwing from the 1989 Batman Movie. The model of the BatWing surprisingly is 100% plastic and has no diecast metal at all, although it does come with a stand.

The Batwing is a later derivation of the Batplane that was introduced in the 1989 film Batman. After being used to prevent a deadly Smilex gas attack, the original Batwing was shot down by the Joker towards the end of the film. The Batwing is so called because the plane is roughly bat-shaped.

BatCycle

This model from Hot Wheels features the BatCycle from the 1966 TV Series. The model of the BatCycle although in the 1:50 scale is actually probably slightly larger when compared to the Batmobile but it is a nice looking model that accurately represents the bike seen in the 1966 movie and television series.

The BatCycle was actually a 1965 Harley Davidson with a sidecar which housed Robins little go kart.

1989 Batman Movie Batmobile

This model from Hot Wheels features the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman Movie. The model of the 1989 Batmobile is a great representation of the car from the movie and captures the full brooding glory of the machine with its long, low and sleek lines.

This edition of the Batmobile had Spherical bombs which could be deployed from its sides, an afterburner in the back, two Browning machine guns hidden behind the flaps on each fender. There was a Grappling hook which served as an anchor to allow the batmobile to make an extremely sharp turn at high speed and a batdisc ejector that could fire precisely 15 Batdiscs in a 1-second pulse. The Batmobile's shields are made up of ceramic fractal armor panels and explode outward when struck by projectiles, deflecting injurious force away from the car and its occupants. If Batman needs to leave the Batmobile for an extended period of time, he can activate the Batmobile's shielding system. Bulletproof and fireproof steel plates envelop the body and cockpit entirely.

Super Friends Batmobile

This model from Hot Wheels features the Batmobile from the animated Super Friends TV Series. The model of the Batmobile comes in a bright blue coloured livery and is the only Batmobile that is not black.

The Batmobile as seen in Super Friends was based on the from the 1966 TV series, the main difference being that the lines of the car were modified substantially for use in animation. The most obvious change was to the nose of the car, where the hood received a "V" depression that echoed the lower fascia. This was also the first Batmobile to feature yellow bat emblems on the doors.

1966 TV Series Batmobile

This model from Hot Wheels features the classic Batmobile from the 1966 TV Series featuring Adam West. This model of the Batmobile features all the classic things you would expect from a Batmobile as made famous on the TV.

The TV Batmobile was based on the Lincoln Futura Show Car and its rakish lines are said to have been inspired by the mako shark and the manta ray. This Batmobile's gadgets include a nose-mounted aluminium chain slicer, lasers, rockets, an on-board telephone, radar, dash monitor, on-board computer and a police beacon. If needed, the Batmobile is capable of a quick 180° "bat-turn" thanks to two rear-mounted ten-foot parachutes, and it is equipped with a smoke emitter and a nail spreader to discourage pursuit.
