Can Scented Candles Help You Lose Weight

So the big news over the past few weeks, is the possibility that smelling a scented candle, specifically the grapefruit scent, might help you lose weight. I was a little skeptical when I heard this, so I did a little research.

Interestingly enough, researchers in Japan, at Osaka University found that exposing rats to the grapefruit oil scent for 15 minute intervals, 3X a week, helped reduce their appetite, and in turn, their weight.

Also, in a study done by the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, overweight individuals smelled banana, peppermint and green apple when they felt a craving and lost more weight than non-sniffers.

While we're on the topic of peppermint, it's fragrance has been shown in studies, to improve your workout, increase alertness, reduce perceived fatigue, and enhance your mood. Talk about a "super" aroma!

Wesleyan University researchers have found that men and women who smelled lavender oil, experienced deeper sleep and higher levels of energy in the morning. And we all know, that everything works better when we sleep better.

A friend of mine said that the only way grapefruit will help you lose weight is if you eat it! :D
