Cardio Workouts to Lose Weight at Home

You can perform cardio workouts at home to lose weight. Cardio workouts increase your heart rate and keep it high for some time. Another name for cardio workout is aerobic exercise. Some examples of cardio workout are fast walking, jogging and swimming.

Cardio exercise helps to improve lung capacity. Some of the other benefits of cardio exercises are stronger heart, improved metabolism, lower stress and better sleep.

Treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical machines, rowing machines, skippers and side steppers are some of the cardio equipment that can be used at home.

Best Time for Exercise

The best time to perform cardio exercises is early in the morning on an empty stomach. It is better to drink a glass of water before starting the exercises. You will burn more fat in the morning than any other time of the day.

Duration

It ideal duration of cardio exercises is 45 minutes. But it better to start with 20 minutes a day and slowly increase it to 45 minutes in a few days.

Skipping

Skipping is a very good home aerobic exercise. It helps to burn calories very fast. Rope skipping burns 100 calories every six minutes. It burns calories more effectively. It also helps to achieve higher fitness levels. It strengthens the bones and improves coordination and agility.

Step Aerobics

For step aerobics you need a platform of 4-6 inches to step back and forth. You can start with left and right legs and add weights as you get used to it. The weights can be strapped to your ankles and it helps you to burn more calories.

Dancing

Dancing is a very popular form of aerobic exercise. It helps to burn calories fast. A 20 minute dance session helps to burn about 120 calories.

Kick Boxing

Kick boxing is a combination of boxing, martial arts and aerobics. In the form of exercise it includes a wide variety of kicks, punches, knee strikes and defensive moves. It helps to burn calories fast. It also helps to achieve a well toned body.

Jogging in Place

Jogging in place helps to burn calories fast but also strengthens the heart. It is recommended to wear a good pair of jogging shoes to eliminate any strain on the foot. You can jog listening to music or watching TV.

Most of these cardio exercises at home not only help to lose weight fast but also help you to keep fit.

I too like to walk and jog. But some people are more comfortable indoor. As you have mentioned weather may not permit us to go out sometimes.

Thanks. One very easy method to lose weight is to walk daily for 30- 45 minutes pulling your tummy in. This not only helps you to lose weight but also to flatten your tummy. Spot jogging for 15 minutes every day pulling your tummy in would be even more effective.
