Happiness is Contagious: Pass it on, if You Dare

Happiness is Contagious, Let's Spread it Together

If you had the chance to spread some happiness throughout the world would you take it? That is the question I posed to myself before writing this hub and as you can see, my answer was a resounding yes! Maybe it's because my nickname is "Happiness" and my real name means "joy" but the chance to take part in a free project that can help increase the world's reserve of happiness at a time when most of what we see and hear on the news and TV is laden with misery, was just too good to pass up.

Now here's the deal: Edward Monkton, author of the book, "The Pig of Happiness," has created a four minute film of his book. The video can be viewed and enjoyed by adults, kids and families and has a simple message about happiness. Together we can choose to spread joy, quietly, gently, from person to person until everyone watching this uplifting video is infected.

Or, like Scrooge at Christmas, you can say, "Bah Humbug!" followed by, "I refuse to take part in such nonsense and will have no part in spreading joy!"

If you want to be part of this project, click on the free video, "The Pig of Happiness," and if you like what you see, share it with your family and friends.

The Pig of Happiness

Babies Help us Laugh Even in the Worst of Times

Yes, times are tough and some days stress seems to hit us wherever we turn, but even on the worst of days, it's possible to find some humor to alleviate all that tension. This delightful video shows an 8-month-old boy laughing hysterically while at-home daddy rips up a job rejection letter.

Dad Ripping Job Rejection Makes Baby Laugh

Pass a Little Happiness Forward

I hope this hub has brought a little happiness into your life and into the lives of those you love. If so, please participate in Edward Monkton's free project and pass it forward to those who always appreciate a good laugh and to those who rarely smile.

You never know when even the most dour faced among us will crack a smile when touched by a baby's laughter and the world will be a better place for one brief shining moment of laughter spread from person to person..

Are you going to participate in the happiness project by passing this hub forward?

  • Yes, I always choose to spread happiness.
  • No, I think this is a dumb project and see no value in spreading happiness.
  • Maybe, if I could think of someone who would appreciate it.

Absolutely love it! I try to see the good and the positive in life around me and your message is so true! We need to spread the happiness around. So many are buying into the gloom & doom and that the world is such a dangerous place. And yet we have a choice what we want our mind to dwell on--we can find good in almost anything. Thanks for spreading the laughter :)

You are so welcome and I totally agree that we always have a choice about what we want to focus on.

If I'm going through a rough time (and who among us hasn't) I always know I'm going to be okay if I can still find one little thing to laugh about.

Thanks for the insightful comment and taking time to read my hubs.

How precious! those laughing babies are so adorable--happiness is more than a feeling-- it is a state of mind--once you have it nothing can put you down:)..best of all its the simple things that make us happy...theres so much we take for granted. One of my favorite sayings on this is : " I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feet"--I hope many more will smile today from seeing this hub.

Thanks Happyboomernurse ...I enjoy keeping up with new hubs of followers...just a quick question..do you know where the quote originates or who said it?

Happyboomernurse profile image

Happyboomernurse 6 years ago from South Carolina Author

Welcome back kids-toy-box, I did a quick search on the origins of the quote, "I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet." It appears to be a modern synopsis of a Persian Proverb from a 1258 book called, "The Gulistan of Sa'di"

The modern condensation started being quoted in the 1950's and is usually attributed as "anonymous." Hope that helps.

Thanks very much! I often use this quote to inspire my younger sister -especially when she complains about petty misfortunes--she too will be glad to know its origins...thanks for taking the time to look. See in your future hubs.

Hi Shazwellyn,

I hadn't looked at this hub through the law of attraction though I do believe in LOA, so yeah! More happiness is on the way for me.

Thanks for giving me an extra moment of joy with your response. That should mean happiness is on the way for you, too!

Katiem2,

What a clever way of saying that you're taking on the dare to spread more happiness!

Our thoughts must be aligned this morning because I've been reading your hubs while you've been reading mine and I even added a link from this hub to your "Think Your Way Happy- How To Make Thoughts Work For You" hub. I gave people a momentary chuckle, but you show them the way to attaining a lifetime of happiness.

Hi HBN, in your hands love and laughter become a potent force. Sadly, there aren't enough people like you in the world. But if we could just find a way to retain the innocence of those babies (of all babies..), one day, there might be.

Here's hoping.

Aw...Writeronline,

You put a great big smile on my face today with your wonderful comment.

Yeah, if only we could patent that baby innocence. When I do my beach walks I always look at the babies and little kids and listen to their laughter.
