What to do when you have to start over in life.
Life happens and we are not prepared.
There are a couple of reason why someone would have to start over in life. It could be from a divorce, a breakup, a loss of a job or losing a loved one. There are a lot of reasons we have the reset button hit on our life. No matter how hard you plan on predicting life it always has a curve ball waiting for you. Yes we don't always get the good cards and we have to play the hand we are dealt. And yes this life can very challenging for all of us. That is a fact we have to accept and live with. I have a few methods that will help you get you in the right state of mind and back on your feet ready for anything life has for you. I will go over 4 ways to get you back on your feet.
- Doing the things you love to do.
- Friends and Family
- Change your state of mind
- Live today as If it was your last day on earth.

What do you love to do?
I read once "Do the things you love and the things you love will find you." Pretty simple words and yet very true. What do you love to do? You have any hobbies? Anything productive you enjoy doing? Doing all this will help you keep centered. It keeps your mind busy from thinking about what your going through. When the mind is idle it makes it hard to keep focused at times. If you can focus your energy you can look back knowing you did something you enjoy doing and can make the world a better place by being productive. Now usually when doing the things you love will attracts like minds. The power of attraction is usually what happens if you keep doing something you love doing.
For example
I love to play music and usually jam with friends who are also interested in music. I know starting over can be hard. And sometimes you don't have the things you need to do what you love doing. But make it a goal to achieve it and focus on doing just that! I find that if you keep moving forward you will get there eventually. Once you do start doing what you love doing you will find you attract those types of people who hold the same interest. And you will find that this will slowly help you along in your time of need.
The law of attraction.
If you ever get a chance I recomend looking for a book called The Secret see fig.1. It's based on the law of attraction. It can help you along in this same method of doing the things you love to do. If you put your mind to it you will see a difference in your life. You just have to believe and focus. Yes it's almost a mental placebo effect but hey what ever works right? I believe they even made a movie based on the teachings of this book but isn't as good as the book is. The book touches on a little more than the movie does, as do most books.
Friends and Family
Friends and family can be a good source to start with for getting you on your feet faster. You will see who your true friends are when your down on life. Embrace the fact that you have people that care about you. And if you don't have any then you have the wrong type of friends and it's time to find new ones that have your back. The family you can't get rid of if they are not there for you. But keep friends and family close to you when your down in life. They will be the ones most of the time picking you back up when your in need.
Caution
Be careful who you allow to be your friend too. Sometimes it is these people are the reasons that you had to start over in the first place. A good rule of thumb is going back to doing the things you love to do. And at the same time what you want to be. For example, if you want to become a millionaire in life. You are not going to surround yourself with poor people and burn outs. You are the sum of who you surround yourself with. Everyone you meet in life has an influence on you. We are all of matter and energy and had the ablitiy to affect others like I'm doing now with you. So try and spot the people who don't have your best interest at hand even if they say aloud you are your friend.

Your state of mind.
The most powerful thing you can do is change your state of mind. I am not sure who made this quote but goes, "The only one who is keep you from happiness Is yourself." You are the only road block in your state of mind in becoming happy in your life no matter how bad it may seem. It is very hard to detach ourself from this materialistic world and understand that we are not our things. When we die , and we all will at one point, we can't take any of these things with us in death. So your probably wondering in what ways do I use to change my state of mind. Well I have two easy methods that seem to work for me.
- Music
- Meditation
Music
The type of music you listen to can change your state of mind. Most of the time I try and get a more positive type of music to keep from feeling even worse. A friend of mine once told me when going though a break up, "Try and stay away from country music." Some country songs got me feeling even more bummed after listening to them. Do get me wrong, I love country too at times. But sometimes when you not on top of your game you might want to find something more up lifting. Listen to music that pushes you to do more!
Meditation
Meditation is something that I'm new too. But it works if you have your mind right. The power of the mind is so powerful it's almost a Jedi trick. The most basic way of getting your mind clear is just sitting in a quiet comfortable space and just closing your eyes and breathing in and out. And focus on your breath. The same way the ocean washes on shore and is the way your breathing is in life. Washing on shore your breath of life and flowing through you. I've even been able to block out what's going on by closing my eyes and focusing on what means the most to me and that's my kids. Hold on to a happy thought in your mind and breathe. Center yourself and you will find that things are really not that bad if your able to stop and breathe.
Live!
I know we all hear the saying "you only live once",or "Live today as if it was your last day on earth." And as much as people hate to hear things like this, it's true. We are not here for very long in this physical realm. In fact when you get older you will look back and wonder where did all the time go. Sometimes when life gets us down it feel like forever when we are in that state of mind. If you can admit to yourself we are only here a temporary time. Thinking today could be our last day you would live differently. You would hold dear those you love in life. You would breathe the air thankful that you can! If it's your last day on earth you would want it to have meaning. Not thinking "oh damn the last thing I did was watch some TV show that really wasn't good to start with." So live life even when life knocks us down. Like rocky said in one movie "it's not how hard you can hit. It's how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward!" I'll always come back to that rocky speech. But yes live today as if it was your last day. It will make a difference I promise you that!

I really hope this helps someone out there in not being so down on life. I know life can be hard and not fair at times for most of us. But keep your head up and enjoy this journey. It really all come down to you on what you want out of life. If you want to draw then do it! If you want to read then do it! And if you want to write then do that too! The list goes on and on of the ways to can focus your energy for something good and productive. Let's make this world a better place and teach other's around us how to be happy.
