   Stubbing pain in hip joint after childhood hip dislocation.
   
   I was born with dislocated both hips but my mother was told about it only after I was 6 months old. For several years of treatments and phisical therapy my left hip is just fine, no pain, good ROM, but my left hip ROM is limited.  When I was a child I used to feel pain at night but I never felt pain during walking. I am 33 years old now. When I wear high hills I almost never feel pain, but if I wear snickers or flats I feel stubbing pain in my right joint.  Also I feel pain when weather is changing and night. What should I do? Does it mean there is a complication in my joint?  Thanks.

   Sounds like you may have arthritis in that hip joint. Especially since you said when weather changes. Thats a classic sign. You could see a doctor about it, He may recommend exercises or physical therapy.

   sounds like arthritis but only a physician can tell...if there were a problem with the joint there would be much more than stabbing pain after walking flat footed...Im surprised you can stand the high heels unless there is some foot drop problems...that would cause you to walk on tippy toes...but you should see your orthopaedist for sure and soon just to set your mind at ease but I hope its just ole arthur...love to you barbara b

   As the others have stated could be arthritis, but my instincts tell me its sciatica, by stating that it is stabbing. The sciatic nerve runs from your lower back and extends to your pelvis, thigh, knee,calf,ankle, foot, and toes. Therefore it can effect each of those body parts. It could very easily be a slipped disc, with the pain radiating to the hip.
   My recommendations is to see a physician, specifically a chiropractor, insist on an exray, they have many new diagnostic procedures, to help you figure out whats going on. They cannot prescribe pain killers, but do usually suggest life style changes.
   Magnesium is very healing to the body, will also help the muscles to relax,as is zinc. Vitamin B complex,will also help.
   As far as shoes go, a good supportive shoe. That supports the arch, a one inch heal, with a back. No flip flops, or slides, and yes flats do make it worse.
   If you carry a heavy purse, ditch it, pair down what you carry, always a contributing factor in backache, and sciatica.
