No More Waiting for Disney Prep and Landing DVD

Disney's Prep and Landing movie is a fun animated Christmas special that first aired on TV in 2009. But Disney has made fans wait to add it to their DVD collections.

At long last, the waiting is over!

Prep and Landing is finally being released on DVD on November 22, 2011 (but there's no release date yet for a Blu Ray version) and if you're anxious to get it, you can already place your order online. If you enjoy animated Christmas movies, this is a good one to add to your collection.

We all know that Santa employs elves in his toy factory to make all the wonderful gifts that he delivers to kids around the world.

But do elves do anything else?

Hermey the Elf in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer wanted to be a dentist, and they all laughed at him. What makes Prep and Landing so much fun is that the film gives elves an entirely new career choice.

Prep and Landing Movie Gives Insight Into Secret Elf Unit

Wayne is one of the elves in the super secret and ultra-elite "Prep and Landing" unit. Their job is to prepare homes for Santa's visit. They do this by silently infiltrating the home and then doing things like making the Christmas tree has enough room under it for Santa's gifts, testing the cookies and milk to be sure they're safe for Santa and verifying that all the occupants are asleep.

It sounds like a super cool job, but not if you've been doing it for more than 200 years and just got passed over for a promotion like poor Wayne.

So when Wayne gets a new rookie, Lanny, to train, he decides to let the rookie handle the arrangements at one of the houses they're supposed to be preparing for Santa's arrival. Disaster ensues. But in the end - in true Disney fashion - everything turns out ok and Wayne's faith in Christmas spirit is restored.

My kids and I love this movie, and I'm glad to see Disney's Prep and Landing movie finally on DVD. In addition to the animated TV special, the Prep and Landing DVD includes two extra shorts: Prep and Landing: Operation Secret Santa and Prep and Landing: Tiny's Big Adventure, as well as four Kringle Academy training videos.
