Full of Father's Day Gift Ideas for the Many Dads
Father's day is a time for kids to show their dads how much they care by giving back a little. Some families may have a tradition of events that are planned for that day while others wait until the last minute to scramble, like myself, and choose something that may be inappropriate or unwanted. And there dad sits, looking down at his unwanted item, looking for words of gratitude, while secretly wondering “what the heck?” Each dad is different and has different interests so I am going to compile a few things that hopefully all dads will enjoy.
Dads like homemade cards and pictures from the kids and grandkids
This is important if you have little ones that are able to color, draw and make crafty cards and pictures. Get the kids involved in giving something special to dad or grandad so that they have something to give and so that dad or grandad know that they have a special place in the hearts of their prodigy.
Hobby items for dads
- Golfer dad: If your dad/grandad is a golfer, plan a day out golfing or buy a gift certificate for him.
- Car fan dad: If your dad or grandad is a fan of cars, buy him car paraphernalia, a bumper sticker or key chain. Cups depicting him in a race-car can be fun or tickets to a car or truck show would be the ultimate.
- Reading and TV dad: If he likes to read, buy him some books. If he likes a particular TV show, then purchase him the series or a movie that he would enjoy.
- Farmer dad: If he likes tractors, take him to a tractor show or buy him a collector's item tractor. He may also like farm shows and similar events to browse.
- Motorcycle dad: If he is a motorcyclist you could get him new gloves, a helmet, boots, leathers, or tickets to upcoming biker events.
Please note* These are the typical manly stereo types that I am using here, but they fit a larger audience.
Going out for Dinner
Take him out if you are unsure as to what to buy or make for him. Take him to a nice restaurant or have a picnic together. Plan it out and reserve a spot at a restaurant that you know he will like.
Give the Gift of Time
The gift of time is probably the most precious and valued amongst dads, especially if you are unable to see each other very often. Share a meal and reminisce about days gone by, when you were full of antics and he endured the hardships and joys of parenting. You may not have much time anymore and he has more than he knows what to do with. Show him that you care and that he is important to you and let him know by verbalizing it.This is a wonderful gift for dads that have it all.
I have pondered what to get my husband and my father in-law and they are easy to buy for, but when it comes down to my own dad, it is so hard to figure out. He doesn't fit into any of those categories. Not every dad fits the glove, but amongst my dads imperfections, he is still my dad and I love him immensely and I will be thinking of and shopping for the perfect gift to give him for Father's Day. After all, without him, I wouldn't be writing this hub!
Thanks to dads everywhere and Happy Father's Day to you!
What Is A Dad?
A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.
A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail...
