Not just a gift

I have to admit, I am usually amongst those people who try to choose not only ‘nice’, but also very useful gifts for everyone – gifts, that I know they will really use or need in their everyday life, or gifts that simply makes their life easier or more comfortable. And before you think ‘Ohh, this must be a pretty pricy thing to do.’ – no, it is not. You have to look at the right places and really have to put some effort in finding the best gifts and never let yourself make a fast decision when you see something that might be ‘the one’.

I am sure some people still believe that top-notch, exclusive shops with their pricy gifts are the best places to buy the Christmas presents and with these show their appreciation to their beloved relatives, but nowadays, with the help of the internet anyone can realise that this is not quite the case.

In the following few paragraphs I would like to help all the lost souls (in the gift-world, obviously :)) with some possible gift-ideas for parents and grandparents – or basically any member of the family, who you think might like one or more of the following items.

Gifts for Dad

For dads, depending on how old they are, probably the best present would be anything tech-related, especially if they enjoy surfing on the internet and you always see them reading the newest articles about smartphones, tablets or computers.

Believe me, you can’t really make a mistake by buying any of the upper mentioned products or any tech-gadgets to your dad – but in case you are thinking about something cheaper than those, here you can find something that might well suit a thinner wallet as well.

1) Wireless charger pad and/or receiver card for smartphones

Dads who started to dislike all kinds of cables that almost drown them in the living room will surely love this gift. In this example you can buy the receiver card for the smartphone (in this case a Samsung Galaxy S4), that your parent can attach to the phone’s back, under the case and just put the phone onto the pad afterwards – to have their phone charged without any cables at all.

2) Waterproof/cordless electric shaver

Have you ever seen you father tangled in the cord during shaving? If you did, this might be a nice idea. Shavers can not only be cordless nowadays, but they are waterproof and very gentle on the skin as well.

These products are usually a bit pricier gifts, but they well worth the money.

3) Self stirring mug

If your dad loves tea or coffee, this might be a pretty useful and funny gift for him this Christmas.

This mug is very durable as it is made of steel, and with the power on/off button on the top of its handle all your dad has to do is to push the button – and well, then enjoy a nice hot cuppa.

4) Rotating shot dispenser

In case your dad is still young (at least inside) and still enjoys a night out (in this case: in) with his friends, then this might be the most creative and useful present for him.

This shot dispenser can hold up to 4, 1 litre bottles of his favourite spirits and dispense 1,5oz measure of liquid when you push your glass up to the optic. A very impressive catch.

5) Digital video/voice recorder fridge magnet

This product will surely be a very useful product to all fathers that tend to forget things in their everyday life.

If you want to help him remember something just record a video/voice message (up to 30 seconds long) and the memo magnet will do its job – your dad will have no excuse to forget anything from now on!

Gifts for Grandpa

Grandfathers are usually very calm and classy people who still enjoy remembering the ‘good old’ times and using products that help them remember to their childhood and the more glorious eras.

To help them with this, these products might give you a nice opportunity to make your grandpa a happier person.

1) Set of custom-monogrammed handkerchiefs, T-shirts or towels

In case your granddad is a true gentleman and he still prefers using classy, cotton handkerchiefs a pack of 3 might be a nice addition to their collection.

Or if he does not really like handkerchiefs, then buy him a lovely towel or a nice T-shirt.

All can be customised with their monogram so they will never forget this was the gift that you gave them.

2) Digital Weather station and alarm clock

If your granddad enjoys talking about the weather and usually drops and hint about next day’s expected and sudden weather change according to his own experiences (usually originating from his back pain), then a complete digital weather station is a great idea to help him make these predictions on days without their usual back pains or personal observations.

3) Slippers

A product that will never get old.

Useful.

Comfortable.

Indoor and outdoor use.

Great gift idea.

What else can one say? :)

Try to put more thought into gifts than parents did in this video :)

Gifts for Mom

Well, what can we say about moms? Most of them enjoy spending quality time with their family and also love cooking in the kitchen.

The next products will give you a few nice and handy ideas on how to make your mother’s everyday life easier – or tastier!

1) Electric peanut butter maker

Does your mom and your family enjoy eating peanut butter? And do you enjoy eating home-made products as well? If you do, this is the perfect gift for your mom.

With this appliance, your mom will be able to make her own peanut butter – or in fact, any kind of nut butter – with this machine to her own taste.

She can add honey, cinnamon, sugar or basically anything to the spread to make it even tastier. The machine comes with a nice vintage outlook, so it makes a great addition to any classy kitchen.

2) Clip-on strainer spout

This little product will be a great addition to any kitchen, as it will make it much easier to pour any liquid accurately to the place you want.

You can drain hot water from the pot or pour cake mixes into pans as this item fits almost every bowl in the kitchen. Cheap, but very useful!

3) Electric fondue set

Does your mom love chocolate or cheese fondue? If she does, you can be sure she will also love this product!

This is a very elegant, stainless steel non-stick pot with adjustable temperature control including 8 fondue forks. A little pricier, but very impressive.

4) Low-fat multi-cooker

Most moms are great cooks. If your mom also enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking something delicious for the family, I am sure she will love a Tefal Actifry low-fat cooker.

This cooker only requires a very small amount of oil for frying, so encourages a more healthier option in the kitchen compared to ordinary frying. This is an expensive product, but well worth the money.

5) Eye-zone massager

Taking a little personal time-off from the everyday grind is very useful to anyone.

Try to make your mom happy with this product that gives great eye-zone massages to your beloved mom, while also relieving her from stress and tension and fighting wrinkles.

Gifts for Grandma

Lovely grandmothers, who still enjoy spending time in the garden and telling us ‘tales’ about their childhood.

If your grandma is exactly like this, then you might want to check out these gift ideas for them as they might give a great opportunity to do all the above mentioned activities – or might help them in their everyday life.

1) The Story of a Lifetime

This might be the ultimate gift for your grandmother. This book gives her the opportunity to write about her life and remember all the important events and people she met.

To help her in the process, this book has more than 500 thought-provoking questions that she can answer. A great idea to get a piece of your family’s written history.

2) Digital LED memo alarm clock

Does your grandma need help with remembering things like a visit to the doctor?

If she does, this alarm clock with a digital LED message board that you can write on and see this message at night will make a good use for her. Just write your message on the board and let the clock do its job in dark.

3) Garden seat and kneeler

Does your grandma enjoy spending some time in the garden tending the flowers? If she does I bet sometimes she also have to kneel down and might hurt their knees during the process.

To overcome this problem, it is a great idea to give her this product as a present. This little garden seat is not only a simple ‘chair’, but if you turn it over it is also a kneeler that you can use during gardening time. Simple, but great!

I hope I could help!

I have put quite a few thoughts into all these gifts, and I have also bought them for my relatives for this Christmas, so hopefully you will also find them all useful or they at least give you an even better idea on what to get to your beloved family for the most charming day of the year :).

Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to everyone!
