Baby Journal (Part 4)- The Home Stretch
66
Get yourself caught up. Read Baby Journal Part 1, Baby Journal Part 2 and Baby Journal Part 3.
A quick note to my more web-affluent family members and friends: When you read this and find out the baby's name which we've held as a secret up until now, don't tell anyone else!
Coming Down the Home Stretch
Entry date: 3/1/08
It has been such a long time since I have last written about our pregnancy. Since then, there have been a number of updates. First, God has really taken care of the baby. We went back for another sonogram as a follow-up to the concerns the doctor had last time and all is well. Our little child has no more brain cyst and her bowels were normal colored. This was plenty of reason to praise the Lord, right? Second, two weeks later, we went in for yet another sonogram to determine the gender and found out we're going to have a beautiful daughter! Finally, we have come up with (and agreed upon) a full name for our daughter, Zoë Elizabeth Brown.
We wanted to pick a unique first name (since Brown is so common) and we wanted a longer middle name. Zwh, or Zoë, is Greek for "life." We fully acknowledge that God has given us this life and it's His life to take care of and protect in the womb (and later on, too!). Elizabeth is Hebrew for "God's promise" and we believe that God has promised to take care of Zoë. Her name is a testament to God's provision in and protection over her life. It's amazing to realize that God has been teaching us faith through all of this too.
Karen and I just finished our birthing class at the midwives office. It was most useful for both of us. Now we are just waiting on and trusting in the Lord. As has been the case throughout, Karen has been such a HUGE warrior through all of this. We have a little less than two months left and she's already had her 1st trimester symptoms come back, but she's been very strong the whole time. It really is nothing for me to put up with mood swings and memory loss when I know that she is dealing with sleepless nights, shortness of breath, a shift in her center of gravity and constant punches and kicks from our daughter!

Little Zoë you are a blessing sent by God. We love you so dearly and know that God is working in your life even now. We have been praying over your life that God would have His perfect will personified in you. Countless times I have put my hands on Karen's belly and prayed over you in the womb. God has been with you, Zoë, and He has protected you. We know that He has amazing things planned for your life. Even now we see how you are put at peace when worship music is played. Even now we see the beginnings of something incredible in this family. I cannot wait to see what plans He has in store for you.
And Lord, I pray now that you would continue to create a wonderful human being in Zoë. God, we completely and without reserve dedicate her to Your purposes. She is Yours, Lord. I thank you so much that you have entrusted her to us. I pray that your Holy Spirit would infuse her and cause her to great and mighty things for your kingdom. I also pray that you would continue to work in our lives so that we might be the parents that you've called us to be.
Above all, Lord, I pray that You would be glorified through the life of our little child. Amen.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the name! Unfortunately, it made Peter's list on his shameful baby name hub, but we love it!
Congrats to both of you, lovely name Zoe. It is great you guys are going to birthing lessons together. With God by your side, it will go well. Cheers.
Pete, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand them a bit better, due to personal experiences. It really is the best time in one's life.
Thank you cgull and solar for reading.
Yes we went to birthing lessons- I would recommend it to anyone expecting their first child. They helped cover a wide range of topics that we both were previously ignorant on.
Congrats to you and Karen (this time I think I get it right :P), Zoe it´s a beautiful name and Zoe will be a beautiful girl (at least if she comes out looking like her mother :P). Pete, every time you publish a new baby journal I find myself looking forward to read the next one. Hurry up! I want the part 5... ;)
Funride, you forever live up to your name, thanks for viewing.
Well, my wife is "due" this Thursday (three days from now), so if there is another baby journal it will be done after Zoe is born!
And yes, you got my wife's name correct this time. Thank you! haha
I agree that she's going to be beautiful, but I'm a little biased. She sure looks pretty in the 4D sono...minus the whole "eating foot" thing.
Congratulations !Can't wait for Thursday.Looking forward to seeing your angel daughter Zoe.:).
Thank you abhinaya. So you, too, think I should write a post-birth hub?
Oh and we'd love for it to happen on the due date, but that only happens 10% of the time from what we've been told.
Yes that's true.May be your daughter will be with you earlier than you think....Ummmmm ...Wednesday... ? :).
Sounds like a great idea! I'll notify my wife that she should have the baby on Wed!
Congradulations to you and Karen. We all at hubpages look forward to reading more about Zoe!
Oh, I am so excited for you guys! I love the name too! Zoe Elizabeth (Elizabeth is my middle name too!!). Darling video, as well. I can remember the last days of pregnancy and being so ready to see the baby! I hope all goes well with the delivery. All the best to Karen and please post baby pictures ASAP!
So, will that be pronounced Zoee or just Zoe? I think it's a beautiful name.
Congratulations! Isn't it great when babies are planned? The baby rooms always have little swingsets, and dressers, and rockers! :)) I think it was great that you went to birthing lessons with your wife... You're the man!
I have a question though: How do you get those Ads on the video? I appreciate your response, and may all goes well this Wednesday or Thursday. :) Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful name for your little girl (my girl's name's made Peter's list too!). I am glad you kept us up to date and please let us know when your little angel arrives :)
Congrats!!!!! A+ on name choice. I not only approve, I like the name Zoe Elizabeth, very much.
Thanks for letting me know. She WILL be a blessing.
It is a beautiful name that you have chosen for your daughter and the video was phenomenal. I hope that everything goes as planned on Thursday and look forward to hearing the announcement.
Donna
Thank you everyone for reading and commenting. I'm glad you like the name we chose! And Uninvented, for clarification it's pronounced ZO*e (rhymes with Joey).
Amy, glad to see I'm not the only one "breaking the rules" of baby-naming!
Celebrating with you the gift of a baby girl named Zoe! Three cheers Pete. :)
Thanks ripple, we're ready any day now to celebrate meeting our little baby!
Pete--Just found your Part 4 Hub. Beautiful name for a beautiful little lady! Just different enough name to make her memorable in others minds.
Best of luck and God's love to all three of you on her Birthday! Post pictures as soon as you have them--can't wait to see her!
Pete Brown - Husband and Very-Soon-To-Be-Father of the Century! :D Hehe. :P
Looking forward to meeting baby Zoe. :)
Thats really amazing. I'm happy for you guys!
Anyone else notice that today is Thursday--the BIG DAY--and Pete isn't posting? Could baby Zoe have come today? Feels like I'm pacing the floor too!
Karen looks beautiful - I'm sure Zoe will be also. Best.
Hey, everyone---found news about the baby on another one of Pete's Hubs. He said she's here and she and Mama are doing fine. Baby is perfect and he'll post pictures later.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW PAPA!! AND BABY MAKES 3!!
Thank you EVERYONE! Yes, baby is here and very healthy, despite the health scare described in Baby Journal Part 3. She's a bundle of joy! Wife and I are very proud to be first time parents and I've certainly had a few hub ideas spawn from this whole experience! Stay tuned in the next weeks...
For the record, my wife gave birth to Zoe on April 24th- our exact due date! I've heard there's only a 5% chance of that happening. 7 lbs 11 oz pictures to come.
Congratulations! For the record, I taught preschoolers for 26 years and have met a few Zoe's. Not many, but they were all smart, creative, delightful little girls. Not only is it a lovely name, but so meaningful. There is a book by Rose Bursik called "Zoe's Sheep" When the little girl can't sleep, her daddy suggests counting sheep but the sheep dance all around her room. It's darling and my preschoolers loved it. You can find a copy at Amazon.
Barbara
Thanks slivalinings, I'm going to look that book up!
Hi, thanks for your email. I like your new profile image. She's cute. :)
A beautiful picture of daddy and little Zoe. She is certainly a treasure.
Donna
Thanks beatsme and donna. I agree, she's a little treasure!
Such a wonderful story :)
I'm glad Uninvited asked. The way you put it in the hub was that Zoe was being pronounced Zwh versus ZoE. I like the name by the way.
Thanks Whitney, I'm glad you like it. Yes, it's a long "e" at the end, making her name rhyme with "Joey."
You are truly blessed- and Zoe Elizabeth is a beautiful name-Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby girl!
Thanks for stopping by and reading Dorsi. We ARE blessed.
Wow - amazing 4D video... and story. I see you're officially a Dad now. Congrats to all of you! :o)
Well thank you rainbow! Yes, we're a little family now.
Congratulations :)
Thanks Kashif
Pete, I just get such warm fuzzies every time I see the profile pic of you holding tiny Zoe. I'm way behind in my hub reading, just got to this now and Zoe is already a few weeks old. Loved it, especially the videos.
Wow! Reading your hubs give me hope for the future. I love your excitment and enthusiasm as a new father.
Thanks for stopping by and reading MyAdvice. I have to confess, I AM excited about being a new father. Looking at little Zoe cheers me up whenever I'm down.
Shirley, glad you found the hub! You were probably distracted by your victory on the "last one to post is the winner" thread. And as far as the videos are concerned, there are more to come, so stay tuned!
