Friendly Accommodation with Pool- Perth
Hay st Backpacker Hostel
Are you trying to pick out the best backpackers in Perth? What do you require in your accommodation as a backpacker ? Are you content with just a bed for the night or are you after a bit more for your money ?
Maybe you prefer to be right in the city for convenience and don't mind dirty kitchens & filthy bedrooms where the fridge is so disgusting in the cleaners room you can't put your food in there like I had at the Globe opposite the Railway Station.
Or you like a place that is cleaned once a day & has a decent swimming pool to cool down on these hot summer days. When they let you in !
It is after 9 am here so I am really looking forward to a swim !
It is great to have air conditioning but bring a blanket for yourself as they only provide sheets ,it was cold yet better than not sleeping because of the heat, as you come into the kitchen in the morning you roast !
There I is a good kitchen here with plenty of cooking facilities & fridges [provided for everybody .
There is an relaxed feel to the place & it is nice sitting outside during the day as well as in the evening and meet fellow travellers from around the world .
It is across the road from the free red cat stop , number 10 and liquor stores as well as a small supermarket where you can stock up for food.

Underground Backpackers
I have now stayed at the Underground Backpackers twice and while it is not my favourite ( because they shut the pool early & I loved the Billabong for its pool & verander of each bedroom ) it is one of my next favourites.
It is around the corner from the free blue bus and within walking distance to shops & nightlife in Northbridge .
As Underground backpackers are licenced you cannot bring your own alcohol so if you want a drink you have to buy theirs which is the dearer way to go.
I didn't enjoy the night a guy on crutches was smuggled into our room & stayed from 2am until about 11 am as I had booked for a female only dorm so wasn't expecting to listen to someones active night life right by me.
Underground Backpackers has a good kitchen & free breakfast ( BYO milk ) and good value meals you can buy.
The bedrooms are ok especially if you plan to be out all day as you can't see out & get fresh air.

Perth YHA
I found this hostel to be clean, tidy with a friendly atmosphere and a good pool.
I shared this room with an elderly lady who looked like she had been there a long time & tried to scare everyone out by being very rude, telling lies about the young ones in the room & throwing things at us!
However the hostel itself was good & has a great kitchen in 2 sections so you can always cook.
This is the first one I rang for my stay this time & was disapointed that it was full.
It is close to the station , on the yellow bus route & a walk away from the mall where woolworths is !

Globe Backpackers
Globe backpackers is in the most ideal spot for convenience right by the train which is the only reason I called them to try stay there again.
Last time I was there I was unfortunate enough to have to share a room with the cleaner & it was so bad I could'nt even put my food in the fridge .
They have a tv in the bedroom which the 15 yr old daughter kept us awake until 1 am watching movies .
The good things about the Globe Backpackers was it had lamps by your bed , The kitchen had equipment in it( unlike Ningaloo Lighthouse Caravan Park !) & even tho it was tiny there was a pool , I never got to swim in it as it was closed for cleaning .We had an ensuite as well.
