Do not enter Room 1408 - Best horror movie of all time
80I laugh at vampires and ghosts, do not say this again
1408 - Official Trailer
Horror in a hub - Do not enter Room 1408
1408
Starring - John Cusack, Samuel L Jackson
Horror fans, get ready to be thrilled because we have got a movie which runs a chill down spines! 1408 is a room number in a New York hotel- DOLPHIN which claims to be haunted.
Ghost writer/investigator Mike Enslin (John Cusack) thinks that it would be an ideal plot to write on, so he decides to stay a night at 1408. The manager Samuel L Jackson persuades him not to stay because he says that it is difficult to survive a single hour in the room, as there have been already 56 deaths in this hotel room.
Cusack had already stayed at many haunted places such mansions and bungalows and was of the view that ghosts and spirits don't really exist.
I am telling you from my experience. I started watching this movie at 11:30 pm and it ended at around 1 am. Normally I freak out while watching horror flicks but at this time I was thrilled and shocked. I was sitting with my Dad in my living room. When I watched the first half of the movie, I had an urge to go to the loo which I did not do because I did not want to miss a single scene of the movie. After watching the whole movie when I closed the lights of my living room and said bye to my Dad who sleeps in other bedroom and entered my bedroom and opened the lights, I felt that I was in ROOM 1408. For one point of time, I fainted and then drank some water and got to the loo and then I felt relaxed. Believe me my dear, I have seen several horror and vampire movies and even psycho movies, but this movie was outstanding as I think a viewer who watches the movie constantly without a break feels the psychotic fibrillations of John Cusack in himself.
Anyways, this is by far the best psychological horror movie I have seen till date. There is nothing more horrific than being tortured mentally and this movie is all that. It so easily manages to play with your mind even when you know that it is the character on screen that is being subjected to the pain and not you but still you feel the aftereffects. This according to me shows the true brilliance of the film.
The movie just sucks you in right from the first scene and you cannot simply take your eyes and most importantly your mind out of the movie, and I must also add that John Cusack is outstanding in the film, truly a gem of a horror movie and this review comes from a guy who never had a single horror movie among his favorite movie list.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
My rating for this movie is 9/10
Anyways go ahead and watch it and post your views.
Creepy in Room # 1408
Movies Coming Soon
- Gone With the Wind opens December 15th, 1939 (theatrical release); November 17th, 2009 (DVD/Blu-ray)
Hot-tempered, self-centered, part-Irish Southern beauty Scarlett OHara, played to the teeth by Vivien Leigh, loves the gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes. Smug, rebellious, honest blockade-running profiteer Rhett Butler, portrayed gracefully and naturally by Clark Gable, loves Scarlett. Ashley, who is also in love with Scarlett, marries his genteel cousin Melanie because he believes that their quiet similarities will create a better marriage than Scarletts passion. Meanwhile, sparks fly between Rhett and Scarlett at their first encounter and continue throughout Scarletts first two marriages. Scarlett and Rhett finally wed, but Scarlett continues to pine for her beloved Ashley. Set against the Civil War and Southern Reconstruction, this tragic love quadrangle offers the burning of Atlanta and fields of wounded Confederates as part of its lush scenery. Meticulous backdrops, glorious sunsets, numerous silhouettes, and the ultrasaturated Technicolor film create a hyperreal vision. The romantic score is every bit as lush and dramatic as the photography, borrowing folk melodies from the Old South to make the tragic war concrete. Heavy nostalgic tones pervade the often witty dialogue and larger-than-life charms and faults of the leads. GONE WITH THE WIND stands among the greatest epic dramas ever filmed. - 23 hours ago

- Red Cliff II opens
Too epic in scope to be contained in just one film, the historical saga that began in John Woo's RED CLIFF heats up as Prime Minister-turned-General Cao Cao (Zhang Fengyi) leads the emperor's army southward to do battle with a small but resolute coalition led by fierce opponent Zhou Yu (Tony Leung Chiu-wai). Incensed at the rebellion displayed by southern warlords Liu Bei (You Yong) and Sun Quan (Chang Chen), Emperor Xian (Wang Ning) grants his trusted General Cao Cao permission to crush their outspoken opponents. But the journey south isn't easy for Emperor Xian's massive military, and before long the soldiers are struggling with lack of water and sheer exhaustion. Meanwhile, Zhou Yu's army draws a line in the sand and prepares to defend it with their lives. When typhoid breaks out among Cao Cao's troops, the quick-thinking strategist successfully infects Zhou's army with the disease as well, causing the later to realize that psychological warfare has finally come into play. Subsequently deserted by Liu Bei, Zhou prepares to lead an army of approximately 30,000 men against Cao Cao's massive force of several hundred thousand. The battle drawing near, Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) resorts to some clever tactics in order to undermine Cao Cao, and undercover princess Sun Shangxiang (Vicki Zhao) delivers secret messages from the Cao Cao's camp. As violence erupts on the Yangtze River, Zhou Yu's wife (Lin Chi-ling) emerges to play an unexpectedly crucial role in the historical proceedings. - 23 hours ago

You are a great psycho movies fan Greta Lieske. Keep up the good work. I am too a fan of these movies.
I can't stop laughing at myself! This movie was so good it gave me a 3 hour long headache after watching it... Haha i couldn't sleep thinking the crazy guy with the icepick was gonna come and slash me all over. I even had to go and open my door to see if it was unlocked about 3 times. No movie has ever messed up with my mental sanity more than this movie. It is, i kid you not, the best psychological horror movie of all times in my opinion. Also wanted to mention, John Cusack's acting there was outstanding! And the direction was even beyond outstanding! I give it 7 stars!
Yes I believe it is the best psychological movie I have ever seen. When I watched this movie, I was having the same feelings as you had. Though I did not check the door but when I watched the movie with my father and got in my bedroom, I felt that I was in room #1408. That's the impact it had on my mind. It is really awesome because I have watched several psycho and horror movies but this one is really different, never seen this type of stuff. Brilliant movie..
This has to be my favorite movie ever. The first time I saw it I was at my (rich) friend’s house, and we were in her TV room (with surround sound and a giant flat screen, of course). That day it happened to be POURING rain, like the sky was dumping buckets, which only added to the eerie feeling of the movie. I don’t want to give too much away in case someone is reading who hasn’t watched it yet, but I’ll just say we were VERY angry until he reached the mailroom, and it was heartbreaking when he saw his daughter.
I love this movie because it is one of the few scary movies where it’s not a murder/psychopath/ghost/monster/alien, etc., I could go on forever, that is trying to kill the main character(s), but the room itself. The only other movie I could really think of is the Final Destination movies, where it is Death itself trying to kill them, not some scary ghoulie.
Also, to any other hardcore 1408 fans, I would recommend watching the Director’s Cut Alternate Ending on YouTube (unless you have the movie on DVD). It is also very excellent and I think either ending would’ve fit with the movie. But beware, it’ll make you jump!
Laura, I really appreciate your comment because I have seen this movie many times and I even want to watch it again and watching it on a rainy thundering day is the best thing you have done. I agree it must have given you ultimate pleasure of watching this movie. I am a hardcore fan of hollywood movie but 1408 is I think the best movie I have seen in my lifetime.
I haven't seen this one, but now I'm interested. Thanks.
It's my pleasure Wayne. Just leave a short review here after watching this movie.
