Any day now you'll be getting your first Christmas card. Where are you going to display it? Do you a special holder for your Christmas cards?

Christmas Card Holders When I Was a Kid

When I was growing up, we lived in a very small house and there wasn't a lot of free wall-space to place a Christmas card holder. My mother purchased a cute little kit that came with some green and red braided string and lots of tiny little red and green clothes pins. She ran these strands of holiday-colored string from one end of the curtain valance to the other across the double windows in the living room.

As each card came in she would take one of the cute little clothes pins and hang the car on the 'clothes line'. I remember it used to frustrate her if a card came in that was laid out in landscape style because that messed everything up. She couldn't pin the card where you could still see who sent it. When you pinned it portrait style you only pinned one side and that allowed you to still see who sent the card.

The Need for Christmas Card Holders

Times have changed and over the years it seems people just don't send cards like they used to. However, those who still send cards, really get into their cards. Think about it. With so many personalization options available, you are now able to create cards on your home printer or uploading family photos etc. to an online site. Then you can have them delivered or pick them up at the local store. Customized Christmas cards are very much in style.

Who wouldn't want to display those after your friends or loved ones have put so much thought and effort into creating them? Do you have a proper Christmas card holder?

Christmas Card Holders

There are so many cute Christmas card holders available. Some of the cutest varieties I've seen are:

  • Christmas tree shaped card holder
  • Sleigh that holds cards
  • Cardboard Christmas stockings with slots for cards
  • Umbrella-type tree stands that hold cards
  • Wire wreaths that hold cards
  • Snowflakes
  • Snowmen Baskets that hold cards

Hello Red Elf! I had one of the ones that loook like a Christmas tree. I don't know what happened to it. I think I like the clothesline theory of Christmas card holders, better!

Jknorman! It'll be here before you know it! I'm not at the counting down days phase just yet.

Paradise, I want one of the wire ones that look like a wreath. I'm bored with the clothes line! LOL

With our business we get hundreds of cards but I love to display the really unusual, colorful or hand crafted cards. I'm not fond of ones that are printed on the computer or carbon copies from a box. I think each card you send out should be sent with the recipient in mind. Sending a card with santa golfing at the 19th hole to a deeply religous person or a card with scripture to your drinking buddy are just lack of thinking on the sender's part. Christmas is a time to think of those you care about, send a card that reflects that and make a point to show off the cards that mean the most to you as well!

Thank you Sukhera!

I agree 12IvyLane. I like the personalized cards too. I don't buy the boxed sets. For the few people I do buy cards for I buy them individually.
