How to Find a Job from a Website

With the economy the way it is these days, there are lots of people out there looking for jobs. Many are trying to use free job search websites. Some are using old fashioned techniques like government offices, newspapers and friends and family. These work but techology dictates that we try to use every available option to give someone the best opportunity to find a job.

Now there are always a certain number of people looking for jobs even in good economies. Graduating students, companies move, better opportunities, there are dozens of reasons that people are normally in a position to look for work. The problem is that when the economy gets rough, the issues are compounded. People who have worked at the same company for 20 years getting laid off probably have no idea how to write a resume or interview. These talented people are now competing with everyone else for fewer jobs. People who must move locations for family reasons and have to find a new job are now competing in a tougher market. You get the drift. It's tough out there.

Now There is Hope.

With the advent of technology and abrogators of data and information, there are now career portals. Some are tied to things like job boards or search companies. These are great but they are limited by the number of resources they make available. For instance, if you go to the portal of a job board do you think they will show you jobs from other boards?

The solution is abrogators with career portals. For example, if you use one of the independent free job search websites, you will find all the resume tips, job interview tips, webinars, planning tools, career assessments, webinars and such that you do on the others. The difference is that they collect all the open job positions and make them all available to you!

Having a Plan

Now I just kind of brushed over one of the most critical aspects of using a career portal ... the plan. Having tools online that can help you develop your plan to find that next job...or your first job is a key requirement.

Enough has been written about using plans and how effective they are in any endeavor so I won't insult you by repeating the mantra. The point is, these plans in the job portals, help you focus and keep you on track. In tough economies, when jobs are hard to come by, you need a plan, you need to stick with your plan and you need a resource close at hand to refer to when you get that phone call asking if you can come in and interview. Using free job search websites from independent abrogators is the best way to go to cast the widest net and still have all the job search tools you need to be successful in your search.
