Fujitsu Fi 6130 Duplex Scanner Review - Scans Best and Fast
Introduction
I use the Fujitsu FI - 6130 duplex scanner religiously at work and love it.
I decided to write a review on the Fujitsu FI - 6130 duplex scanner.
This will benefit those looking to buy the Fujitsu FI - 6130 duplex scanner or for those who simply want to see how this scanner stacks up.

My Thoughts
The Fujitsu FI - 6130 scanner leaves a very small footprint. Approximately a foot by a foot amount of space is taken up. It fits very nicely where I keep it on my right side. It is very easy to stack documents into the scanner.
Once you begin scanning, the process happens very rapidly. The specs claim 18 double sided pages in one minute. If you are doing single sided pages the process happens much more rapidly. I'd estimate about a second per page. The fly through there pretty good.
Only older Fugitsu scanners I've noticed that the scan-time is noticeably longer if you are running color documents (versus black and white). I don't notice this delay on the Fjuitsu FI - 6130 duplex scanner. The documents scan through very quickly color, gray scale or black and white.
Durable
I use the scanner daily at work and it is popular in the office. Some of my co workers bring their documents to me instead of scanning them on the local copier. I suspect this is more due to their being busy with other tasks rather than for their love of my scanner, but it doesn't bother me. The scanner works fairly flawlessly and is easy to use.
In spite of it's daily workload, the Fujitsu FI - 6130 hold up very well. In the time I have had the scanner I have never had to call our IT help desk for support on the scanner.
It starts up very well and easily after a computer shutdown or crash. I've never had a problem with a paper jam that I couldn't fix. In other words, on the rare occasion that there is a jam, it is easy to clear and the system works fine afterward with no need to re-warm up or reset.
Good Picture Quality
I'm always surprised by how well I am able to scan pictures and detailed docs that I wouldn't think could come out well at all.
Granted, this scanner is better suited for pages rather than small images. Typically if I am going to scan some old fashioned photo I have around, i'll tape the photo to the middle of a blank piece of copy paper and run it through. The copier paper adds enough size to the document to ensure it can feed all the way through.
There might be a better way of doing this, but I haven't researched it. Too lazy I suppose :-)
Scanning other scanned documents seems to hold up well also. The quality from one generation of documents to the next seems to stay pretty consistent.
Scanner Poll
Which Scanner Do You Use
There Must Be Something Wrong... Right?
I couldn't exactly do a review (and sell you the Fujitsu 6130 scanner) without coming up with one complaint. There's always something wrong with any product.
If I had something on my scanner wish list, I'd wish that scanners, this one in particular, would better handle stacks of documents that have been stapled together a long time.
When I remove a staple from a stack of documents that have been long stapled together a long time, I find that pages still remain stuck and the scanner has a hard time separating them. I usually have to go manually through the pile of paper and 'smooth out' the staple holes, page by page so the pages don't stick.
The longer these docs have been stuck together, the less chance the scanner has to successfully scan without a jam up.
As mentioned before, the jams clear easy but it can be a nuisance.
What is The Bottom Line?
The bottom line is that I really enjoy using the Fujitsu Fi-6130 duplex scanner.
It leaves little footprint on my desk space.
It runs smooth and consistantly.
The image is clear and very consistent with the original.
It is easy to use.
Highly rated! Check it out.
