It's FAT FREE!!!

This is an easy frosting that is great to use on the Bloody or Slimy Cake. This frosting is fat free, light, creamy and is extremely versatile. It is easy to add flavouring and/or coloring without changing its texture or its ease of spreading onto a cake. If you like to tint the frosting, add a few drops of coloring into the water. If you like a swirled effect, add the food coloring at the end. If you choose to not add any coloring, the frosting is snow white.

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups sugar

1 tbsp. golden or

light corn syrup

⅓ cup water

2 large egg whites

1 tsp. flavoured extract (vanilla,

          almond, maple, mint)

Method:

Bring the water to a simmer in a double boiler. In the top of the double boiler, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water and egg whites. Ensure that the water does not touch the bottom of the top pot of the bottom boiler. You only require one to two inches of water. Beat the mixture with an electric mixer on high speed until it stands in billowy peaks. This will take approximately 7 – 8 minutes. Remove it from the heat and beat in the flavour extract. Frost the cake immediately.
