Hot Dogs Are Great With Many Different Toppings

Hot dogs have been around for many years now. They consist of a meat slurry that can be made from beef, pork, chicken, turkey, or a combination of these products. Hot dogs have a variety of names, including wieners, franks, and even red hots. They are usually eaten in a bun that is made just for hot dogs and sausages. Bread companies even make extra long buns for the foot long dogs. Hot dogs are usually served with a variety of condiments loaded upon it. They can be eaten right out of the package but are usually cooked in some way.

The Skillet Method

Hot dogs can be fried in a skillet. My favorite way is to slice the dog lengthways but not quite all the way through. You want it to open and fold like it has a hinge. Put just enough cooking oil in the skillet to keep the hot dog from sticking. Get the skillet hot before you put the dog in it. Cook at high heat for a short time. If there is a little bit of burned black spots on them, you know they are just right. Serve on a bun with just a dab of mustard.

Boil Them Hot Dogs

Boiling the hot dogs is probably the way to go if you do not like the burnt spots. The way I like boiling them is a little different. I bring the water to a vigorous boil, put the hot dogs in and cover with a good fitting lid, Then I turn the fire off. Wait 7 minutes for hot dogs that you cooked while saving energy.These I like to top with ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, and chopped onions and jalapenos.

A Cookout Favorite

Cooking out is an American pastime and of course no cookout is complete without hot dogs. Cooking hot dogs on the grill with charcoal gives them a unique flavor. These are also better with a little burn to them. At some of these cookouts, and even nationally, they have hot dog eating contests. The winner is the one who consumes the most hot dogs. I'm sure with that many hot dogs in a person, they do not feel like a winner for long.

Camping With A Hot Dog

Going camping is a great way to get away from things and just relax. Many many hot dogs have been cooked at camp sites. Who hasn't sharpened a stick, put a dog on it, and cooked it over the camp fire? I'm sure many have fallen off the stick only to be picked up and finished cooking. This is a great way to add flavor. I even cooked a couple of hot dogs wrapped in aluminum foil on the engine on my 4 wheeler while I was riding. A great way to cook lunch and have fun too.

The Way Of The Dog

Ball parks, amusement parks, and even street vendors have hot dogs for sale There are many different brands with different flavors so you should be able to find one that you like and enjoy. With so many different ways to fix them, I believe hot dogs are going to be around for a long time.
