How to Stop Getting Automatic Dial Calls With Recorded Messages From Telemarketers?
69
Are you tired of getting those annoying telemarketing calls? How many times have you just sat down to eat or just began relaxing in the tub and the phone rings? You jump up and run to the phone to answer it only to find out that it's a telemarketing call? And to top it all off the person on the other end isn't a person at all...it's a recording! Frustrating isn't it?
We have all experienced a similar scenario from time to time. No one likes to be bothered when they're relaxing or taking time for family. But what can you do about it? Is there a way to stop these calls?
Good news, there is a way!!
It's called The National Do Not Call Registry. The service is free and can be used for any residence and mobile phone number.
REMEMBER: If you share a phone with someone else you are registering everyone that uses that number. Once your number is registered it is permanent and will not expire.
There are two ways to get YOUR phone registered:
- Call 1-888-382-1222
- Go online to The National Do Not Call Registry
When calling the above number, you must call from the phone number that you are wanting to register. For example: If you are wanting to register your home phone then you must call from home. When you call you will be asked to enter the number of the phone that you're wanting to register. Registration takes about 1 minute.
When registering online, you will have the opportunity to enter up to three phone numbers at a time. After that you must enter and confirm your e-mail address. Once you've checked for errors and everything's good then click "submit." You will then be sent an e-mail to the e-mail address that you entered. Open the email and follow the link to complete your registration.
Congratulations! Kiss those annoying calls GOODBYE! Please allow up to 31 days for the calls to completely stop. After that if you get calls you may file a complaint at the number or website above.

The ones who call and put me on hold are the worst. Occasionally I have fun with them though and let them talk to my three year old.
Paul: Yes, this is very easy to do. I registered my phone about 2 weeks ago and since then I've only received 1 solicitation call. That should be taken care of too within the week. If not then I guess I'll have to do what I have to do!
Steve: That's funny :D I'll have to try that one if I get any more calls! LOL
I did this when it first came out...say 5 years ago and still get calls. even have my number UN LISTED...do I need to like re-new it, now???Thanks G-Ma :O) Hugs & Peace
G-Ma: I don't think that you have to renew it...but you might go to the website to verify that your number has indeed been registered. There is a link on there so that you can make sure it's in the registry. If it is, then you have the right to file a complaint on any number that bugs you.
Great advice blessedmommy. I would like to add that if you get a computer generated call, continually press the # or * button quickly. It makes the computer think that the number is disconnected and it releases the call.
WOW!!! lol, lol, I was looking for this #!!!!! lol, lol, lol, Be blessed!!!!! My Friend!!
Thanks DarleneMarie...I didn't know that!
Drpastorcarlotta...I'm so glad that you found this information useful!
Yes, those solitation calls can be utterly inconvenient - and sometimes so annoying. In spite of listing on the Do Not Call List, there are exceptions that may still call.
I have been told, and have tried it twice, that on computer only calls, you can delete your number from the calling list by:
As soon as you answer and recognize it is a computer call, hit the # key as fast as you can for 6 or 7 times. That is supposed to confuse the computer and knock off your number...? I will keep trying it - at the right times.
frogyfish: Thanks so much for adding this helpful tidbit!

Thanks. I'm seriously hoping this works. I used the online form. All you do is enter your phone number for your home or mobile and an email address. Once you submit the registration, you'll receive an email to confirm it. You have 72 hours to confirm or your registration will fail. The email confirmation arrived faster than I could login to see if it was there. Clicked the link and completed the registration. Now, in 31 days I shouldn't receive another telemarketing call.
Thanks. This was very helpful and I'm praying it works.
