What Kids Are Searching Online
What Your Kids Might be Searching Online
Want to know what your kids might be searching online? Here I am mentioning some facts in this hub about what kids search online. Nothing but plain facts.
According to a new report from Symantic, Youtube is the top most searched term when it comes to kids, Facebook made the no. 3 position on the list. The terms sex and porn were also present on the list. Search term 'sex' took the 4th position while 'porn' was on number six. Along with 'Youtube', the terms 'You Tube' and 'YouTube.com' were high on the list making 11th and 12th position respectively, while 'utube' was on the number 78 and other variations of youtube are there too. Some literary terms were also search as 'Google' took the second place and 'wikipedia' was on fourteenth.
Search terms 'naked', 'nude' 'p*ssies' etc are also there, which must have hit most of the parents or at least some parents quite hard. I would recommend you to try and monitor your kids' activities online keeping this report in mind. If your kids are guilty of watching inappropriate things online then in my opinion you should talk to them about it. Other than that you can also try online services to block such content from being displayed on your kids' PCs. You can block porn to be displayed on the PC for free, without having to buy something if you are using the right OS. Window Vista's parental control has proved to be quite affective. Once you turn on the parental control on the right profile, select web restrictions and from there block porn.
Now you see why Google spent $1.65 billion on something like YouTube? It was the biggest DOTCOM deal of its time. It astonished many to spend such huge some of money on something having difficulty in coping with lawsuits which are filed against it every single day. It surprised me too as YouTube was not making any real profit due to large sum of money it has to pay for the bandwidth people use to watch their videos and a low CTR(Click Through Rate). Now as the younger generation is getting addicted to YouTube, this means much more traffic building in the near future and Google has coped with low CTR by displaying ads on the video screen while video is being played. It is actively dealing with copyright lawsuits and converting YouTube into a money machine. Here you can see the complete list issued by Symantic.
