I Found More Fun on Google Earth!

Google Earth has something for everyone.
A Little About Google Earth
As you begin to play around with Google Earth, you'll notice that some areas have better resolution than others. They claim that the degree of resolution is dependent upon the points of interest and popularity for that area. The cities with the most detail are Melbourne, Victoria, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. While researching information for this hub I found out how to tell when the Google Earth image was taken. It's at the bottom of the page on the right-hand side. Click here for the link to the page that demonstrates this.
The 3D imagery is not availabe for all areas, but due to the angles you can look at the 2D areas, you still get a fairly cool affect. Where 3D imagery is available, Google Earth utilizes digital elevation model data called by NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. This allows some breathtaking images of places like the Grand Canyon and Mount Everest.
In April 2008 Google Street View was fully integrated into the program allowing the program to provide an on the street level view in many locations. This feature has been somewhat controversial since some feel this is getting a bit too personal.
