Natural Horse Training

My first love is my family of course and them comes my animals and then my jobs. My familly consist of my husband of 30 years this July, My wonderful duaghter and her hubby, their little boy Cash and her identical twin girl Hanna and Hailey that were born 10 months after their son. Then there is my fun loving son Hudson. He has a giggle girlfreind and a little boy name Trace that is a bundle of energy. I love them all but this thread is dedicated to my horses that keep the sanity in my life, all eight of them. Eight, yes I am crazy but I love them all.

Lets start from the beganing. After the day I came into this world at my earliest memory was the horse. I have been bound to them since birth, maybe I was a horse in a different life, who knows. I can still remember the stuffed horse I received on my first birthday. I always wanted a horse as long as I can remember, but growing up in town, of course my parents said NO! But at the age of 14 I went to work as a car hop at the local A&W so I could have a horse to call my own.

I will never forget that summer. We were headed out on a family vacation. We stopped at the local gas station to fill up and head on our way. About five miles out of town my father told me that the guy at the gas station had a horse for me. I was so made that we waited to tell me. Of course he knew he would never get me back into the car so I had to wait til we got home to see my new horse. As soon as we pulled in the driveway I was on my bike to see my new horse. She was everything that I hoped for. A small dappled gray mare with a white mane and tail. She was all I had dreamed of. Of course she was not broke but being young and dumb, myself and two girlfreinds took on the task to break her. And that we did. Within one week she was ready to go and I never looked back. I rode that girl everywhere possible. She was with me till the day she passed on. I still get tears thinking of her. My Gypsy Rose Lee, there will never be a horse that has my heart. She went through every stage of my life and the day that she was gone part of me went with her.

But life goes on and so does the love of horses. I have always had at least one but now I have eight. All sizes and colors, each their own personality. Life got busy and with a growing family not much time for horse but I always had one to feed. Now the kids are gone and Grandma has time on her hands to devote her time to her one real passion. So here is the place to share with you everything that I have learned through my years with horses. My mistakes and my breakthroughs. So come along for the ride.

This is Buddy, my 16 year old Arabian gelding. He was a gentle baby when I went to buy him but not the day he was delivered. I was always told that Arabs are crazy but thought that I was that 14 year old girl again and could do anything. After he was delivered, he grew 10 feet, turned into a crackhead giant, and scared the living crap out of me. He was uncontrollable and thought that I had mad the biggest mistake in my life buying this guy. He got put straight into the back pen and stayed there for a long time. I never thought that a horse would scare me but I definitely was wrong.

Well, the neighbor next door stopped by to see my new horse and he had no trouble with him at all. He worked with him, put him in and out of his trailer and more. He said I had a great horse on my hands. I was amazed wwhat he had done. I had heard of Horse Whisperers and thought he must be one. From then on I was sold on Horse Whispering so I dove in head first to learn all that I could. If you look closely at the last picture you can see him behind the Cheif.

So after my search for learning to whisper to my horse, I read, asked questions and went to alot of horse shows and clinics. Here I will continue to tell you of my experiences and what I have learned. Stay tune to the next saga.

After everything throughout my search, one thing kept coming back into my head, "Clinton Anderson" the man from downunder. I have been to many differnet clinicians, some famous and some just plain joe's, but Clinton kept creeping back in.

I found Clinton on the RFDTV channel one night as I was surfing through the channels. At first he was very hard to understand with his accent but what he was doing was making sence. Those horses were actually doing what he was asking, even some crackhead Arabians like my Buddy. So I safed up some money and ordered his first DVD about roundpenning your horse to gain their respect. After a week of this my crackhead Arabian was paying attention to me. He was a completely different horse. He started to follow me like a puppy everywhere that I went. If I took one step he would take one. If I took two steps back, he would take two steps back. It was like we became one. It was total amaisement.

So of course I ordered the next step in his program and before you know it I was on his back riding like we had been riding for years. This guy had bucked the previous owner off everytime she got on him, and here we were working as a team. I owe everything to Clinton and his techniques. Without him I would still have that crackhead Arabian that no one could ride.
