About marriage and happinnes

Once married it is not rare that people start to wonder whether their single friends are having more fun and sex than them. They can imagine wild single parties where they are the centre of attention. They start to worry that opportunity is passing them by and they are missing out. What most people don’t remember is all those single nights that they spent in pyjamas eating from a can in front of the TV!

My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met.”
-Rodney Dangerfield

"I never knew what real happiness was until I got married. And by then it was too late." -Max Kauffmann

About getting married

“Getting married is a lot like getting into a tub of hot water. After you get used to it, it ain't so hot.” -Minnie Pearl

"I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury."
-Groucho Marx

“They say love is blind...and marriage is an institution. Well, I'm not ready for an institution for the blind just yet.” -Mae West

"A man is incomplete until he is married. After that, he is finished."
-Zsa Zsa Gabor

“A wedding is just like a funeral except that you get to smell your own flowers.” -Grace Hansen

About romance, wedding anniversaries and birthdays

The vast majority of men haven’t a clue about romance.  If a woman asks a man to show more affection, he will wash her car or do the dishes.  Very few men will understand that what she wants is to be romanced.  The problem is that most married men are too worried about making ends meet to have time to worry about romance.  Men forget that most women are always looking for romance and love.

“The best way to remember your wife's birthday is to forget it once.” -H.V. Prochnow

“Never forget that a woman is a romantic. She enjoys wine, flowers and chocolate.  Let her know that you too remember these things… by speaking of them occasionally” Woody Allen

Who’s the boss?  Does equality really exist in marriage?

“I have learned that only two things are necessary to keep one's wife happy. First, let her think she's having her own way. And second, let her have it.” -Lyndon B. Johnson

"A man's wife has more power over him than the state has."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“My husband and I divorced over religious differences. He thought he was God, and I didn't.” –Unknown
