Republican Revolution | Hurrah For Tea Baggers!
72
As a fairly liberal type who keeps writing about men wearing dresses, it might seem odd that I'm actively coming out in support of the tea bagger types who are currently raging across the USA buying up all the bullets and opposing universal health care because apparently, if your fellow man dies of cancer because he can't get health insurance due to a pre-existing condition, well he just should have dodged the cancer ball harder.
I believe that a great deal of right wing policies are fairly cold and perhaps often backed by people who have yet to have felt the sting of being at the mercy of circumstances truly beyond their control. However, as republicans rage across the America, spurred on by the hysterical Glenn Beck and the snub nosed minion Bill O'Reilly, I truly believe that in this movement lie the seeds for true change, the kind of change Obama talked about but could never hope to bring to reality (and probably never really planned to anyway.)
The democrats sat around for eight years and watched Bush do horrible things in their names. Their country invaded two sovereign nations and they whined, they complained, they made witty websites, but they did nothing as their own representatives betrayed them over and over again. Republicans are a far more volatile lot on average, and although I do not believe in their causes necessarily, I do believe that the spirit of independent revolution which they bring with them is incredibly important and may one day save America, and perhaps other parts of the world as well.
It's long been noted that the two party system is essentially a two puppet system. Democrats and republicans alike are noticing that Obama has been a disappointment in many respects. Thus far he has failed to revoke don't ask, don't tell, and Guantanamo is still in full swing, along with many other secret terrorist torture camps. He has even moved to extend the powers of the patriot act, and from where I am sitting a better name for the man might very well be 'Smiley McEvil'. But time will tell.
What is holding the American public back is the notion that there are truly two polarizing sides of the political coin. There aren't. Democrats and republicans don't really exist. The two groups that do exist however are the power brokers and peons. Those are the only two sides of politics that matter.
The power brokers keep the peons fighting amongst themselves so they don't complain and don't take action as their rights and freedoms are whittled away. For the last eight years, democrats blamed republicans for the ills of the world, now republicans blame democratic leadership. But instead of simply complaining as mild mannered democratic types have done, republicans are a seething mass of potential revolutionaries. If only the two groups would quite squabbling and come together, they could truly create a positive change for all concerned, a change not dependent on pleasing lobbyists or shadowy corporate overlords, a change made by and for the people, a truly democratic change.

Real change takes a revolution. Maybe it will take a women and men in a dresses to do it. Great Post Hope! I read you for managing my lingerie addiction, but you are on spot politically as well.
We must be more than just lingerie, must we not? :D
Sorry Hope we won't get real change 'till men start wearing Mary Jane's (again)!
I feel you are correct about the power brokers and peons. however!

I don't agree with much of what you say here, but like you, I support TRUE freedom. I do not begrudge healthcare to anyone. The system that we have now also doesn't deny healthcare to anyone. If you visit a hospital ER they must BY LAW treat you. I really just want to be left alone and not have my meager earnings taken to support some who absolutely REFUSE to work to help themselves. My deepest fear about Obama seems to be realized anew each day. I think he truly does want to change America into a socialist Europeon-type nation. That is a change I will NEVER believe in.
