Safety Signs Posters No Cell Phones Sources and More

Updated on February 11, 2015

I will never forget traveling to China, being mesmerized by the friendliness of its people, the beauty of the cliffs, the temples and the great and grand history of these brilliant people. Yet while on a tiny bus trip excursion, our Chinese guide (and this was in 1999) he pulled out his cell phone! Back then we had no cell phone etiquette and even today, we are sorely lacking safety signs guiding us and reminding us that this new technology demands proper etiquette.

In instructing in communications at the university level, one of the key points made it is not just the words that you use but the non-verbal ques that you send to your audience. A picture is stated to be worth more than a thousand words. Most people are visual learners. Adding all of this up, safety posters are critical to business - big and small, public and private. Safety posters guide us and provide the boundaries that are needed not to mention friendly reminders. This is especially true when it comes to cell phone usage. Cell phones have completely integrated into our American culture and the culture around the world.

Safety is More Than Dollars and Cents

Safety is more than dollars and cents, it is about the professional attitude of the worker, a sense of respect and courtesy in addition to preventing an injury.

Visual Reminders of Respect Transcend All Fields

From corporate world to church to many other non-profits such as theatres, a visual reminder to be respectful of others and the mis-use of electronic devices is needed.  It is not just the corporate board room, the dining room table, the golf tournament, it is also the meetings with friends and family.  Be present emotionally, set aside your electronic devices for a time more appropriate.

Safety Signs for the Water - Swimming Pools Lakes

Safety signs are perhaps most prevalent around the water and yet throughout our lives on land we need signs to promote courtesy and remind us of safety measures. Safety signs are not just about don't, they are also doing what is right.

Safety - Land and Water - Courtesy and Prevention of Injury

Safety signs affect everyone in every organization.

Sadly safety signs are perhaps most prevalent around the water and yet throughout our lives on land we need visual reminders or posters or signs to promote courtesy and remind us of safety measures. Safety signs are not just about don't, they are also doing what is right.

Notification via a visual sign is an important communication tool that managers in all walks of life must promote. From saving a life, to common courtesy with the cell phone to notification of possible dangers, all safety signs are critical.

Why do I care about safety signs? As a former Finance Director, we were able to instill a new sense of safety consciousness throughout our organization that dramatically affected our bottom line.

More importantly, safety is more than dollars and cents, it is about the professional attitude of the worker, a sense of respect and courtesy in addition to preventing an injury.

Preventing loss of life, loss of income, preventing pain for the individual and for the organization is a vital goal for all organizations.

Instilling a sense of pride and ownership and respect for your fellow workers is a needed item for all organizations - for profit, non-profit, commercial and recreational too!  Interestingly, it is the recreational industry of golf that is leading the way to instilling better measure to remind others to be respectful of each others air space - no electronic devices will be allowed at the Masters in Augusta Georgia starting in the 2011 season.

Compliance Signs and Safety Signs

Compliance signs and safety signs are not the same. Compliance signs are mandatory signs required by governmental legislature. Compliance signs are not optional. Safety signs are signs that train your employees, remind them of the importance of safety and promote courtesy. Signs such as no cell phone use, caution signs, proper lifting techniques are signs that elevate the behavior of your employees.

All organizations must comply which certain federal and state mandates. The question is how good is your management? Does your management invest in safety signs that promote safe and courteous behavior?

Every public building must have a sign that visually reminds both employees and guests of the importance of silencing their cell phone. No smoking signs have become the norm here in America, now we need to include no cell phone signs and other signs throughout our buildings to encourage a change in safety consciousness.

Safety Pays

Silencing the cell phone for courtesy saves time and promote a professional atmosphere. Safety signs promoting safe lifting and other safe consciousness will affect your bottom line with less worker injury but also with greater moral. Management can visually guide their organization with custom safety signs throughout their buildings.

Cell Phones Forbidden at the 2011 Masters

Leave it to the Masters, the elite golf tournament to set new standards of excellence. Cell phones are completely banned. The Masters is held annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta Georgia.

The rules detail specifically that there will be no cell phones allowed inside the gates. This prohibition includes PDAs, beepers, etc... Let golf be golf - no modern electronics to distract the audience, the players or the home viewers.

Family Cell Phone Rules

Perhaps all of us should consider this rule. My rule at home is no phone calls accepted, no texting during dinner. You are sitting at the table you are expected to make eye contact and converse. I know, I know I am tough. But if the Augusta can prohibit electronics - can't little I at the dinner table too?

Do you have family rules concerning electronics?  Please comment below and share with us what works for you.  What are your thoughts?  Are cell phones and texting addicting?
