Simple ways to become more positive

Updated on March 19, 2022
Don't walk past the flowers.
Don't walk past the flowers.

You can't un-ring a bell. What's done is done-

  Moving on-

If you want to be able to incorporate positivity in your life and say that your life is full and complete and happy then the first thing you have to do is have a starting point to get it that way.

As the subtitle of this article explains, you can't un-ring a bell. Once it's rung, it's rung. If things have not been as positive as you would like them, then look at that situation as a rung bell. It's not possible to go and un-ring it , however, you can move beyond that bell and that sound it made and put that aside. You can make a new starting point so that at the finish line you can make the positive statement "My life is full and complete and happy."

A very simple way to accomplish your "finish line statement" is to begin to replace negative thoughts and anti-productive thoughts that occur to you with positive ones.

I have composed a very small list of simple ways to become more positive.

  • Think about what you are thinking about and consciously replace self defeating thoughts with statements that affirm and encourage and lift up. Take five minutes a day when you are free from distractions and calmly examine your thoughts. It will take time to be able to really "hear" and "listen" to your own thoughts swirling about in your mind but be determined and constant and set aside five whole minutes devoted to that practice. Soon, it will become a habit and happen automatically that you will be aware of what you are thinking. WIth being aware of your own thoughts it makes it quite simple to become more positive. You can think about whatver you want to. It is your own decision, your own free will that lets you choose your own thoughts. No one can make you think anything you don't want to think. Your thoughts direct your actions so that is why I begin this simple way to a more positive life with the process of your own thinking.
  • Live purposefully in each thing you do. Once again this has direct links back to your mind. In other words, think about what you are doing and do it of your own free will and your own choosing. Even in the most difficult situations you can focus on what is "right" in the present moment. Don't be going through life unaware and complacent. Positive moves like purposefully and intentionally doing the things you do bring focus to your actions and cement the minds pathways to reinforce the process. To live purposefully in each thing you do means to examine everything you are doing and take responsibility for it. As you pay a bill at a restaurant, lay the coins or the bills in the order you purposefully choose, give thought to your direct actions. Really see and be aware of each tiny insignificant thing you do throughout the day. This helps you to start to become more positive because it makes you super aware of any sources of negativity or self defeating practices.
  • You need to find what it is you believe in and be devoted to that. To some, they use the phrase, "To thine own self be true." They live according to their belief in that statement. If your source of belief is to be true to your own self then how to live devoted to that would be to wake up and be aware of your own needs and desires and make micro goals to meet the desires and needs you have. Then, you arrange your life as if you were arranging your furniture in your room to be able to have the end result of those micro goals met. When the micro goal is met, move on to a bigger one. Just be aware of what your goals are and set a signpost in your mind and follow the sign. By finding what you believe in- what you unwaveringly can stand firm on- that gives you a purpose and a reason and a foundation. Alignment of your circumstances in life with your belief will become a great source of positivity as you affirm and confirm things along your journey.

These three items are just a starting point for moving past an already rung bell and moving toward a more positive life.

After the starting point is obtained solidly in your life and patterns, you can move onward in the process and find other ways to add positive influences all around your world.

To get you started replacing negative thoughts, I have listed just a few affirmations to help bring a more positive atmosphere to your mind. However, you will want to make them as personal to your own self and circumstances as you can.

  • I am in control of my own thoughts and I am pleased to have thoughts which are sane and healthy.
  • Every day I am above ground is a good day indeed.
  • Everything is negotiable, there is always more than one way to see things. I see clearly.
  • My environment is a sanctuary to me, a garden of peace and a safe place.

There is always a way out, no matter how big or small the journey to a more positive life is, you can win the advantage and move forward in progress.
