Sinus Pressure Again? Learn How to Get Sinus Relief

Updated on April 7, 2014

Chronic Sinus Infections - Not Fun!

If you have ever suffered with sinus infections you know the symptoms are not fun. And you have probably tried everything under the sun to give you a little relief. Many people suffer for years.

I got my first sinus infection when I was 12 years old. I thought I had a toothache but was shocked to learn that it was a Sinus infection causing all of the pain.

Every Year sometimes several times a year I would have another infection. It would start with a little congestion causing me not to be able to sleep. I would fill up as soon as my head would hit the pillow. I would have a constant headache and lived on Advil. I also was always conscious of my breath. Yes, a sinus infection can also affect your breath.

I tried everything including over the counter pills and nasal sprays which always worked at first but always made it worse in the long run. I tried hot rags or letting hot water hit my face in the shower. Again temporary relief.

I would ultimately end up at the doctors who as predicted always put me on antibiotics and steroids. It would work, until the next flair up.

A Neti Pot Helps So Much

One thing that I have found that gives me a lot of relief is using a neti pot. A neti pot is a sort of plastic pot that holds water. You fill it up with warm water and add some salt to it. then you take the spout of the pot and slowly pour the water into one of your nostrils will leaning over the sink or a bowl. The water will gently cleans and moisten your sinuses and come out of your other nostril.

I know this sounds a bit disgusting. But I promise it feels really good. And I have found that using the neti pot helps to keep my sinuses moist so I have much less nasal discharge. And I also have less allergy problems because it washes out any sort of pollen or dust-mites that are in the air and and ended up in my sinus.
