Stargazer - A Shower...

Updated on December 31, 2012

I was sitting there where the crickets aren’t so annoying…where the grass just enough for a warm blanket…where no one would dare sit because it was our place...our spot…same spot where the moon was always a lovely lamp… same spot where you used to kiss me…the only spot where you know I’d rather be…and the only spot where I badly wished you’d rather be tonight…

a drip of rain, a drip of me missing you...
a drip of rain, a drip of me missing you...

I sat down in the misty grass checking your message in my iphone. “11 p.m. honey, don’t forget..meteor shower..tonight.” Ok, 15 minutes to go, I told myself. Was singing along with One Republic when my phone rang. It was my insomniac best friend dragging me to Wishing Well, a nice place for videoke bar.

“No meteors tonight, sweety. Get here before it rains” Peachy called sounding so sure. She was one of my best friends. Free-spirited, independent and unattached.

“Nah get here then I’ll go with you.” I teased.

“How sure are you there would be meteors tonight?” she asked.

Shockkks! I remember now…the timezone dear Lord! How could I forget to double check. Oh well, I’ll still wait. It’s not like meteors fall everyday. “I’ll go there after an hour, ok?” I told her.

It’s been a month since you left town. I hated it but you had to. Being away from you was exciting though. You don’t have to be looking at me so I know you’re here. You don’t have to call my name so you’ll be in my head. You don’t have to wrap me in your arms just so I could feel you next to me. Baby, you don’t have to be near…you’re a million too close already.

A strong rumble of thunder broke whatever thoughts I was having. I gazed up the dark sky to be amazed there were no stars. Ok, what is this? I thought. How could I be so lucky tonight?!

The rain fell drop by drop aching my skin. I quickly ran back to my jeep realizing it’s too late. My clothes all wet and my shirt a see-through now. WTF! I’ve reached a shed nearby and started to fix myself. “Hi.” Said a voice behind me. He was holding an umbrella. He subtlety swallowed when I looked at his face the first time. His jaws clenched while looking at my heart. I realized I was nearly naked with my wet white shirt. “I’m Jacob. Can I lead you somewhere?” he offered.

I was silent for a moment and tried to compose myself. But a flashback of his sharp eyes looking at me a while ago made my blood raised up to anger. “No, thanks.” I replied failing not to sound so rude as I walked away.

“Snob girl. Be thankful I was helping you.” He whispered back.

I stopped walking and was surprised what I just blurted out. “I’m really sorry. I don’t know how to thank someone talking to me looking at my chest instead at my eye.”

I left him rushing to drive away soon as I could. I didn’t want to be pissed off but I already was. Men like him, damn I swear I’m so prone of…But honey, you’re the only exception. ;)

Minutes later, I was in Peachy’s V-room. And she was singing her favorite song again. Silly “Alone” by Heart or whoever revived it.

Till now I always got by on my own…I never really cared until I met you…And now it chills me to the bone…How do I get you alone…

She stopped as she shouted, “My gosh Jewel, you’ve really been in a shower?!”

Never had the luckiest night.

0ne-twenty-five a.m.

Starless night…just rain…
