THE 60'S BEST BAND IN THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY-REUNION

Updated on November 9, 2010

INTRODUCTION

Fellow hubbers and other readers, those of you who read my previous Hub, ” THE 60’S BEST BAND IN THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY”, know I was in a band, The Darvons in the 1960’s. My opinion may be somewhat biased, but I think we were the best band in the Upper Ohio Valley during the 1960’s!!!!!!!!!!!

As I mentioned in that previous hub I had an old tape converted to CD format. Well I picked it up on September 14, 2010, and I was amazed how good it sounded based on the circumstances of its existence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You ain’t heard nothin’ yet I distributed the CD to all my old buds and now were getting back together on Saturday Novemember 13, 2010 for the Darvon’s reunion at my house.

IT JUST DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER

Can you imagine five old guys who haven’t played together since 1968 getting back together? Most of us don’t even own instruments anymore but that won’t deter our fun and companionship and sharing those old memories of bygone days!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit I’m a little anxious over planning such a momentous event because I just don’t want to screw up our possible fun of reuniting but I will have most capable help. My two daughters Tracee and Jenny are cooking up a feast for all of us old geezers!!!!!!  Tra is making her world famous taco dip and it’s to die for and Jen is brewing up her delicious pepper soup or maybe her Chile. I call Jen the soup Nazi because all the soups she concocts are out of this world and Tracee could make a fortune selling her taco dip alone and they can cook anything to a tee!!!!!!!! I have told them they should quit their jobs and open a restaurant!!!!!!!!!!

I still have a great deal of preparation to complete and Lord know it wasn’t easy to just get in touch with everyone of the Darvons and coordinate schedules to make the reunion possible in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though that task is complete there’s still house cleaning to do. I also have to shop for snacks and munchies and also soft drinks. I have already bought the most elegant paper plates and bowls known to humanity!!!!!!!!! The initial long range weather forecast cast a pall over the date of the festivities as possible rain was predicted but now the forecast calls for a warm and sunny late fall day!!!!!

We’ll all be back together again at last. There’s Jim “Beef” Clark our lead singer, Chris Zumbrunnen my cousin and our bassist and sometimes-lead guitarist, Larry Adkins our drummer, Ed Snodgrass the best sax player on Earth and then there’s me the dead weight of the band!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEMI-CONCLUSION

This is a semi-conclusion since to quote that great philosopher Yogi Berra, “It ain’t over ‘till it’s over.” And that won’t occur until Saturday but I sure hope everything goes swimmingly!!!!!! I’ll let you know how it turns out in a future hub I promise!!!!

Since the initial hub Chris has gone to the trouble of posting the tracts of the CD along with still pictures of the Darvons on You Tube and the link is below please enjoy our fun along with all us guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
