US Travel Guide

  • Legion of Valor Museum – Things to do in Fresno, CA

Walking through an art museum – let’s say the Fresno Met – you’ll inevitably run into a gallery or two that you just don’t get. Maybe it’s a random jumble of black and red squiggles, maybe it’s a post-modern sculpture of a teddy bear wearing a sombrero eating a giant chicken, maybe you’re positive that [...] - 3 days ago

  • Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery – Things to Do in LA

If I’d only had the time, I would have included this afternoon’s West Los Angeles attraction in USA Travel Guide’s Halloween coverage. I don’t care who’s buried below, there will always be something creepy about visiting a cemetery for fun. The creep factor certainly hasn’t kept people away from the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery, though. [...] - 4 days ago

  • Golf the Space Coast – Golf Courses in Cocoa Beach, Florida

There’s nothing sadder than a golfer with frozen balls. Grab your clubs and head some place warm for the winter, some place where the bright green beauty of summer never goes out of style, some place like Cocoa Beach, Florida on the Space Coast. The golf courses of Cocoa Beach and surrounding areas welcome golfers novice-to-pro [...] - 4 days ago

  • Get Wet this Winter – Wet ‘n Wild Vacations in Orlando

Your town may not be straddled with snow yet, but you know it’s coming. What you may not know is that while you waste a gallon of gas every morning “warming up” the car, there’s a place in this country where the people still look forward to weekend trips to the water park. In fact, [...] - 5 days ago

  • Solvang Julefest 2009 – Christmas in Solvang, California

Head to Solvang, California to celebrate the Christmas season this year, and you might feel like you’ve stumbled half-way across the world. Fact is, you’re only about 100 miles out from Los Angeles. But then, that’s Solvang for ya. In a grand holiday tradition loved by locals and tourists alike, Solvang, California, “The Danish Capital of [...] - 6 days ago

  • Holiday Events in Phoenix, Arizona – Rawhide Western Town

When we wrote about Rawhide Western Town nearly a year ago now, they called it Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass, and their sign was a fair bit more charming, too. But changing the name doesn’t change the fact that Rawhide is still a fun afternoon excursion for anyone in the Phoenix area. So happens it’s [...] - 6 days ago

  • Snowbird Winter Rentals – Get the Most of the Coast

Here in Dallas we just enjoyed a nice shorts-worthy weekend, but in most of the country temperature dials are headed south. As it happens, so are a whole lot of people. They’re called “snowbirds”, folk who flock to warmer climates before the winter woes have a chance to set in. They head to Georgia, Florida and [...] - 7 days ago

I traveled to Northern Texas in the winter one time and it was bitterly cold but the south is supposed to be nice then. I think the summers would be real pretty in the center and north for a texas vacation.

So many places I failed to mention! Like Big Bend National Park!

Designated as an International Biosphere Reserve, Big Bend offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities in a primitive setting. Backpacking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, hiking, nature watching, camping - you name it, if it can be done outdoors, it can be done in Big Bend.

Looking for an exciting, music filled getaway, and don’t mind a hot climate? Head to Austin Texas this summer. It’s going to be hot: pack light clothes, some comfortable shoes, a cowboy hat, a toothbrush…but leave the Ipod behind, because Austin is not only the capital of Texas, but renowned as the Live Music Capital of the World, and you’re going to want to soak this up.

Home to the Texas Longhorns, this University Town in Central Texas receives an average of 300 days of sun, boasts of world famous summer festivals, over 200 live music venues and outdoor parks, and a progressive community that loves their quirky shopping centers as much as their hiking trails. Texas may conjure images of John Wayne and twang music, George W. and tumbleweed, but Austin’s mod and vigilant urban scene is an anomaly eager to defy any traditional expectations.
