The End, The Middle and The Beginning
Written October 1995
Thursday was fun, so I thought, made two runs.
Friday the same, fooled myself, said just one.
A rent a friend smiled, held the dooor, flashed some cash.
I ran out three more times, ran the forty buck dash.
But when Saturday came, I awoke with a start
looking up at my kids what I saw broke my heart.
Pain and rejection, pure fear in their eyes,
So much did they love me they wore no disguise.
I cried in my coffee
I screamed on the phone.
Miss Mary said "Get Here!"
I came here alone.
So I 'stuck and staid',
Lost my kids, gave up wealth.
For the message I heard. . .
"Take the time, love yourself."
Within fourteen days I planted my feet.
Surrendered my ego, admitted defeat.
Got on my knees,
Learned I was loved,
And centered my focus on things from above.
If you've taken the time to read this my friend.
Remember you're worth it and fight til the end!
