The worst date of my life

Updated on May 7, 2011

OK I love to tell this story as I actually enjoyed where we were going my biggest problem was the guy I was with. I was at work one day and this fellow by the name of Jim came in and a was talking to me. I was a bartender and I knew him from coming in from time to time. He told me that Charlie Daniels was going to be playing local that week and asked me to go along with him. Being recently separated I quickly made it clear that we were only going as friends and he agreed with me that that would be the case as he also had recently separated. Well the night of the concert he came to pick me up and it was freezing cold out and what does he show up driving not his truck but his Harley Davidson. I love to ride but it was bitter cold outside so that was the first downfall. We arrive at the concert and fair and paid to get in at least he paid for me and then offered to buy me a beer. I accepted and we got in line at the beer tent, as we are standing in line having casual small talk he turns to me and says I think I am here with the most beautiful lady at the fair . So I'm thinking to myself how cliche and cheesy but I was trying to think of something kind to say in return but before I could say one word he turns around and says do you think you are here with the most handsome guy at the fair. I had this dumbfounded look Im sure and then Im thinking ok great not only is this guy a dork but he's fishing for compliments to. We get our beer and head over to where the concert was about to begin. We got our seats that where fairly close to the front and the concert began. Now everyone at this concert was sitting in chairs in the area we were seated and the song Devil went down to Georgia came on which happens to be one of my favorite songs that he plays well low and behold my "date" decided that it was somehow completely appropriate to stand up in the start start hollering and flailing his arms around like a drunken octopus. By now I had slid my chair as far away from him as I could get and next to the people beside us as if I didn't know him. So after the concert he says would ya like to go and ride some rides and maybe play a couple games? I said sure thinking the night just might get better until I ended up losing $90.00 playing games and buying ride tickets. Well we finally decided it was time to head back to drop me off and all I could think is thank goodness this is finally going to be over. We climbed back on the motorcycle and headed back we arrived at my house about 30 minutes later and I felt like an ice cube went to give him a hug and say thank you and it came as no shock to me that  he had one more surprise up his sleeve. He says to me do you mind if I spend the night I was like are you serious. Needless to say he would come to my work for months to come still asking me out and I told him every time I am dating someone.
