You may be aware of some of them or may be not but i think that this information can guide you a little bit while you go to buy weedkillers.

These weedkillers are sold by Yates, Mcgregors, watkins, Kiwicare and other popular brands but as you do not know about actual chemical in them you just go and ask the brand and pay for it.

The best thing about is that it has a very less soil life so that it is safe to use in garden beds, rockeries, driveways, along fencelines and lawn edges, around buildings. It is absorbed through the foliage and moves in system of plant, killing both treated foliage and root system of plant.

Controls: It is mostly used to control bamboo. It also controls broadleaf weeds, cape ivy, wandering jew, wild oninon, docks, sheeps sorrel, mercer grass and periwinkle, couch and indian doab.

Controls: It is a mixture of three different chemicals which gives a long term protection against the broadleaf weeds and grasses up to 12 months once sprayed. It has a long soil life so it is best to use on driveways, patios, and othe path ways.

Also known as : Woody Weedkiller, Mcgregors weed out

Controls: It is a selective hormonal weedkiller that controls broadleaf weeds. it is more targeted on woody scrub weeds, convolvulus, docks, sorrel, cape ivy, thistles, buttercups and re sprouting tree stumps (willow, poplars, tree privet). It can be used on broadleaf weeds in lawns.

Controls:  It is also a long term weedkiller controlling broad leaf weeds and grasses. it also prevents germination of weeds up to one year.

It comes in the form of granules so it is easy to use. The best place to use this is along the driveways, patios, pathways and near building where you will not be planting anything as it remains active in soil for a longer time.

Controls: It is a selective weedkiller for the control of hydrocotyle, creeping oxalis. it also controls broadleaf weeds (including daisies and clover) in grass lawns.

Controls: It is a selective herbicide used to control broadleaf weeds, daises, onehunga weed, catsear, chickweed, chamomiles, docks, thistles and dandelion.

It does not harm any grass or lawn so you can use it in your lawn

Although this is not a herbicide but i have put it here because it helps the weedkiller to penetrate the leaves and hence increases the effectiveness.

Sprayfix or spraystick are cheap alternative to this but they only help the weedkiller to stick to the foliage of the plant whereas pulse penetrant helps the weedkiller to go inside the weeds and hence increases its effectiveness

Controls:  It controls many broadleaf, brush weeds, annual sowthistle, chicory, dandelion, goldenrod, common mullein, perennial pepperweed, halogeton, bull thistle, honeysuckle, ash, black locust, multiflora, eastern red cedar, alianthus, snowberry, willow and yellow poplar. It works best as a post emergence herbicide (once the plant has germinated). It can be used on conifers and other hard to kill trees.

Although it is very expensive herbicide but it is very effective as well.
