Treating Your Hair with Home Remedies

Having been a hairdresser for many years I have come across many different home remedies from various people. I got suggestions from other hairdressers about home remedies that they swore worked and most of the remedies actually came from clients. Most of them sound pretty weird but everyone of them have been sworn to work by the people who have tried them. I have to admit I have tried a couple of them and they did work for the most part. Some are strange, some are gross and some have been around for a long time; but I have to admit that most of them are pretty interesting, especially the really old ones that have been around for years. Some I wouldn’t recommend because you may get arrested for cruelty to animals and are just plain nasty, but I thought I would throw them in just to let you know what people have actually tried for many years.

I have had a lot of clients who have been losing their hair and I always recommended professional hair products to restore the hair growth but someone told me that a raw egg and olive oil also restores hair growth. Not sure if this one works but doesn’t olive oil work on just about anything?
To restore hair to the natural shine that you had oh so many moons ago a remedy that has been proven to work by fellow hairdressers is to mix chamomile, rosemary, yucca tea into a mix with a little shampoo and wash your hair with it. Brings out the natural shine to your hair.

Now everyone has probably heard that beer makes a good shampoo for your hair but I was told that if you pour beer into a small sauce pan and let it simmer until it gets a thick texture, let it cool then pour it into your bottle of shampoo with about half of shampoo left in the bottle then it will keep your hair looking very conditioned because of the protein in the hair and cooking the beer brings out more of the protein.
Now this remedy we did use in the beauty salon to rid your hair of chemical build up, such as when you swim in chlorinated water too much, and you just take some shampoo and mix it with some baking soda, make a small paste and apply it to hair. Leave on for about 10 minutes or so and it cleanses hair of build ups. Baking soda is another thing that works wonders for many things, people even use it instead of toothpaste.

World of the bizarre:
If you have gum in your hair use some chocolate and rub on the hair and the gum supposedly slides off. Good luck, but it seems like a waste of some good chocolate;I understand you can use dark, semi-sweet, milk chocolate doesn’t matter.
I have also heard that a little bit of coca-cola in a small bowl and soak hair with gum in it and the gum will come out gently.
The most bizarre and it doesn’t have to do with hair but from the vaults of Elizabeth Bathory, the bloody queen if you take a newborn pup and cut off its head, mix the blood with wine and rub it on skin to make skin look radiant. Told you it was bizarre and please don’t try at home or anywhere, the poor little pups.
I love this
