Astrology Sun Signs - Meet Taurus - April 21st - May 21st
Recognising Taurus
I remember driving in Seattle with my stepdad, looking for a particular restaurant. We found it without a hitch, parked the car, and went inside to enjoy our lunch. After a wonderful visit, we returned to the car, and proceeded to drive back to the hotel. That's when things took a turn for the worst. Instead of turning left at the lights to return the way we had come, he insisted we should turn right - which would take us away from our destination. Instead of calmly and rationally discussing the issue, a battle royal ensued - with me taking on the role of the bad guy, while he obstinately maintained that he was right and that was final. There was no budging the man, no matter what I said, I was wrong.
You might have guessed my stepfather is a Taurus...and once his mind is made up nothing can budge him...he digs his heels in, lowers his head and charges!
The best place to find a Taurus is out in nature - but that's not to say that is the only place they can be found. Taureans make great engineers, movie stars, clerks, fishermen, assayers, gardeners, kings, queens, actors - well, you get the picture...
.Most Taureans are contented, slow and steady, calm and contented...I say most - you will come across the occasional Taurus who doesn't seem to be exhibiting these behaviours, and that means possibly a very strong Gemini, Sagittarius or Aries influence. (Aries influence does not agree with Taurus in most cases, and can make for a very discontented bull.)
Just because May people are born in the sign of the bull, doesn't mean they will actually look like one. I wouldn't suggest that to a female Taurean - especially if you are hoping to become friendly...
Many Taurus individuals do have bull-like characteristics, strong back, chest, or shoulders (or all three) - thick, muscular neck (mostly the males) casual, deliberate movements - small ears, and possibly a lock of hair that curls in the middle of the forehead...generally dark haired, although there are blondes out there too - and when they eat, they take measured bites and chew slowly and thoroughly.
Generally speaking, most bulls are not big talkers - not saying they are not gregarious, just that they can express themselves with minimal vocabulary - the epitome of the strong silent type!
There's no place like home...
Taurus is a homebody. They love their homes, and would much rather have visitors than be the 'visitee'. Whether simple friendship, or finding the love of their lives, Taurus is content to have the world come to them, rather than chase the world. The words "slow and steady wins the race" were spoken for a Taurus! The bull doesn't like change, preferring to stretch out in comfortable, familiar surroundings.
If the Taurus you know does not own his own home, you can bet he is dreaming about it. Nothing makes them happier than being able to mow their own lawns, plant gardens and commune with the earth. They are, after all, earth signs, and nature calls to her own. However, if a Taurus is forced to live in the city or apartment building, surrounded by noise and confusion, you can bet that he will run away on a fishing trip, camp out, nature walk, or simply walk through a park to reconnect and wash away the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Generally the most unruffled, unhurried, and stoic of all the signs, Taureans are not the Zodiac's worriers, leaving that to some of the other signs, unless there is a heavy Gemini influence, which will make them appear much quicker, talk faster, and worry more.
Taurus loves food and drink and if not careful can be inclined to overindulge. Although the bull understands exercise and moderation are necessary, he will deny he needs it. His obstinacy will get in the way.
Stubborn as a bull...
Most people know the saying "stubborn as a mule", however, it should be "stubborn as a bull!" Don't ever let a Taurus hear you saying he is pig-headed, obstinate, stubborn or mulish. In his mind, he is simply patient, sensible and firm. These other adjectives just do not apply.
People born in the sign of the bull have a love of material possessions, wealth, and luxurious, sumptuous surroundings. Their ruling planet, Venus, is responsible for their taste of the finer things life has to offer. Music and art will always touch a Taurus in some way or another, whether it is professional or a hobby. Blues and greens will sooth and comfort the bull, and to some degree, pinks and rose - but never red!
They are also most impressed with size - go big or go home is a saying that fits the Taurus to a tee - whether it is a house, a person, or a business deal, for a Taurus, the bigger the better! There is nothing small about a Taurus - even if they are only five feet tall. His home and family are his prized possessions and god forbid anyone disturbs or threatens them in any way.
The Taurean patience and strength are legendary - everyone knows enough to stay out of a bull's pasture - and don't be waving any red flags about - but they are still stubborn!
