Basking in the Dark
Basking in the Light
Let me not bask in the light
Of our artificial sun
That keeps me awake each night
Makes my face looks wan
Please turn if off
So you can’t see my troubled thought
I don’t want to show proof
That I am distraught
All I need is a full rest
So this tired palaver
Can at least make a protest
When the day is over
All I want is a breathing space
From hitherto and tomorrow,
All I desire is to get an ace
When the day starts anew
So I can once again wear a mask
For the night covers it well
Nobody dares to ask
When the darkness tolls its bell
Can’t you see?
That behind this façade
Is a phantom, so ugly
Forlorn, so sad…
