Happy Soul's Day, Durga Mata
A Tribute to My Friend's Birthday.
My nature is to always try to bring out the best in others. This I learnt from my Spiritual Teacher, Sri Chinmoy. To this end I have written nearly 70 poems either to celebrate, to uplift or to inspire the Light in others. This is one such poem to celebrate someone's birthday (Soul's Day, as we call it)
Enduring one, you've stayed the course
And stemmed the tide.
We know there has not always been,
A roller-coaster in the ride.
And yet, a heart of gold, a Mother’s touch,
A consecrated life has known so much,
As joys and blessings flowed.
O affection-flooded ray,
Of life’s many journeys on the way,
Who can say?
A child’s sweet fragrance, did but shine,
He dined with God and drank his nectar-wine;
Devotedly absorbed His sublime treats.
O giver-server-heart; God-centred to the core,
Amrita and downtrodden friend’s of yore,
Reach out to you, who hear their call,
Thus offering your heart to one and all.
Simplicity-life and goodness-treasure;
A Dauntless Spirit, for added measure,
May your Path be smooth and light;
This soulful day be ever bright.
